There was another thread about this a while back, but I normally average about 30mpg on the 2.0 8v if you drive it really carefully then maybe a bit more.

Not long ago all anyone cared about was "how much power" and "0-60 times".....petrol prices change alot of stuff dont they.

XE 'redtops' are actually very good for fuel economy on long motorway runs, esp considering thay are on close ratio gearboxes.

Where they will be poor is with short trips where the engine doesnt warm up for long (thus on cold start) or when neglected & the CTS overfuels them.

Any 1600/2.0L etc is pretty thirsty from cold.

Look at the official figures for an XE'd Astra or Cav & you should find a Nova is a tad better due to lower weight.

my old xe nova was actually really good on fuel, better than my 1400 8v multipoint corsa :(

i got told this when i asked the question before i bought my xe '' if your worrying about fuel prices your wanting a xe for the wrong reasons''. However my old xe was used to and from work and got around 100mpg for 20quid, depends how heavy your foot is and how long the roads are once your into 5th your well away!!

my old 2.0 redtop nova was not bad on petrol, i woulden't say it was economical used to get about 20 miles to a tenner around town and that is giving it abit of stick

feck - my SR's averaging well down! £40 in the tank and I'm lucky if I get 300 out of it.

Me thinks needs a tune...

The good thing about a big engine in a light shell is it pulls so easy, when iam skint I drive around at 30mph in 5th gear and its fine.

pisses even more in,

on the way to the pod (65miles)(pv) i used just under 1/4 tank from cannock,
on the way back home (43miles) i used 1/2 tank lol

I use my XE Nova every day, only 5 miles to work so doesn't really get warm. Manage 120 miles to £20 which I think is pretty good.

Pretty much the same as the 8v's then, at £1.10 a litre I get 60/65 miles on a tenner.

A little bit faster though ;)
