View Full Version : Memory cards?
Went to buy a 4gb SD card for my camera, got very confused, some are £5 and some £50, what on earth is the difference to make such a massive price jump, all were Sandisk too!
beats me, probably someone trying to make a big profit.....
They were in the same shop on the next hanger to each other!
Im guessing it would be speed difference? As with PC memory SD cards have a certain read/write speed. Im not sure how much difference it actually makes real world im afraid.
thanks, that makes sense, never thought about that but as you said, how much difference can it make, not like a normal memory card is uber slow.

Can make quite a big difference sometimes, cheap ones can be considerably slower, but if you've never used a quicker one i suppose you wouldnt know what you were missing.
Price difference could relate to the life of the card too perhaps, ie how many write/delete cycles it can handle.

Aye, potential speed between pics & general life span of the product.
I bought a Toshiba 2gb one last week from someone that brought a bunch back from Hong kong. £10.
I will buy the expensive one then lol
look at the X speed - the higher the fastr - obviously - and the more costly...
I find ebay a fun place to get sd cards!
Yeah if i was at home i would buy off ebay, but being here postage is a pain and ive got the i want it now syndrome so **** the expense lol

7dayshop do some 8gig class 6 (6MB/s write) SDHC cards for about £18.
If you're shooting JPEG you'll not notice much difference. A reasonably quick card is a must for RAW though.
thanks will have a nose about.
