View Full Version : Postcode risk calculator
Is there such a thing? I have seen posts on here where people have mentioned what grade their postcode is, how do you find out?
All I have done in the past if I wanted to query two different addresses was to go to a company I am not insured with and try two separate quotes and compare the difference.
Surely this is a gay way? As it still does not let me know my own 'code'
Hook a brother up?

omg my area is in the 'f' risk thingie (a being lowest f being highest) romford and its got a little start next to it which means * = Any motor cycles in areas D, E or F must be garaged in a locked and secured building whilst at the policy holders address. In some of these areas this also applies to cars.

B for most of basingstoke (A for the village where my nan lives) http://www.dggaming.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/idea2.gif
It's an F* for Romford where I used to live, yet where I live now comes under Ilford, which is much worse, yet it has a lower risk?
And where my mum lives in Northampton, it's still a D, and she lives in a town where 90% of the population are over 60 and crime is unheard of!
wow... http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50081 lol

when i was 18 i had a 2L nova moved huse from B to C 10miles down the road, and would not insure me :( so the engine endded up in pep :)
Madness mate!
As Stuart says I am sure it's well out of date, as I checked a mates address and his says F* also. Yet he has lived there for 24 years and had no trouble nor have any neighbours, it's a quite cul-de-sac in a nice area. Weird lol

Don't pay much attention to this calculator. I worked in car insurance for 20 years, every insurance company has their own set of codes for risk assessment of postcode areas. It is not a case of each insurance company looking it up on a generic table.
Every insurer will have their own version of this table, and it will take into account their own claims experience in each postcode.
Nice one Colin. I ignore it anyway, I get cheap as anything cover with a variety of companies :)

True, but its a handy rough guide, much like car insurance groups.
I'm sure I've got this in the articles section on my WIP site...

Admin fee for changing address?
Actually, the ex's insurance went UP by a few quid when her car went from "Parked on driveway" to "parked in garage"... odd. I guess maybe thieves may think there's something of worth in a locked garage...

Mines an E*, funny thing is that literally two streets away is F* lol.
Still my first years insurance on my 'modified' 1.2 Nova was £1300 with 500 excess fully comp.
Thats not bad considering.

I insured mine as parked in residentail bays this year as it was £10 cheaper than on the drive/(lockup 8ft walls). I think its to do with the number of claims for hitting walls and posts ect.

I don't think so cuase its going to be in my name, does anybody know if this is fronting?
Its not fronting as you're not saying your dad is the main driver. It is however insurance fraud as you're saying your car is primarily stored at this location when its not. If your car gets nicked from outside your house, you'll have a hard time proving you always keep it at your parents place.
Insurance companies usually ask if the car is stored at your home address overnight, either that or they make the assumption your home address is the storage address.
