Valves will be ordered on monday morning and the head sent back to steve for a check over.
Worse things happen at sea, got some areas to improve the engine in and i will be working away again.

Its a Calibra/Cav turbo lump (C20LET) with quite a few go faster bits on. Car is still front wheel drive. Sounds like there is more power to come.

Unlucky fella, 3rd time lucky ???
Who's been spec'ing / building the engine ? I'm not wanting to come across all negative but your obviously doing something wrong (2 engines gone tits up !!), fair doo's there isn't really anybody out there thats made that kind of power so you are kinda being the 'guinee pig' but for 2 to fail before its even been mapped !?!?!
I'm sure your probly a bit pi**ed with it at the minuet, but hope your gonna get it sorted again and on the road (abit quicker than last time hopefully tho).

Sh*t happens, it could've been worse !!

what exactly went worng then?

Valve began to fail due to det. We believe it was damaged before it made it onto the rollers but there is no way of knowing. Will be making some decisions with spec this week.

gutted

waht spec were the valves? and how come it was being run under heavy load with det?

surely that should have been sorted before it was loaded

As close to a possible diagnosis as we will ever get is the one i have now thanks to Steve and the chap looking at my head. Its believed that it was down to catastrophic valve failure possibly due to a faulty valve however this is as close as we could ever get to a true diagnosis. There was no damage at all to the other exhaust valve on that cylinder. Looks like i have just been very unlucky once again but you win some and you loose some.

New cams have been sorted, valve pockets are been checked in the pistons for clearence with the new cams.

Valves are made of 214T.
