Thought some of you Nova people may know a few companies for new drivers.

Finding it a pain in the preverbial to find anything under 2 grand unfortunately.

I hear about mates getting insurance quotes of 12-1500 quid, and I'm struggling under 2 grand?

Tried more th>n and they only provide insurance for people over 18!

At this rate, the Nova's going and I'll have to get a 125 bike.

try confused.com mate they give really high quotes but then the companies call ya an all give you cheaper quotes. More Than wouldnt give me a quote online because they dont cover under21s but then called me and gave real cheap quote. when companies call you an ask your cheapest quote take a couple hundred off your cheapest and the company will beat it. thats how i saved about a grand!

Quinn direct was the cheapest company i could find at 17.. and that was 1500 F+F. Soon as i turned 18, with a years no claims, 900 quid fully comp on a 1.4sri. Unfortunately everyone has to pay a daft amount for there first year. (unless your female.)

My sister turned 17 yesterday, got insured on a pug 206 1.4 litre, 700 full comp. Not going to say males are better drivers because it would start ww3. But it is rather unfair that 'males' have to get a year experience to get same prices as females :).

Thats who the car is insured with at the moment, but under my dads name as me as a named drive. He owns the car.....he actually drives it more than I do.

They want a s**t load for my own policy though.

However thats through confused or Gocompare, dont trust those sites for some reason.

easy solution then? stay on same insurance policy until you are 18 then get your own for cheaper :).

its what happens, due to all the boy racers, and people who dont declare mods which means no insurance then the other people have to clame, hinty hinty lol

just wait till your 22, then you can insure a group 20 car for £500 lol

Seems quinn are the boys to go for.....

Might have to sort something out with them again.

Anyone know if you can "split" your no claims bonus, use 4 years on 1 policy, and 5 on the other for example??

I know about mirroring but it seems quinn dont do that.

Try Admiral/Elephant with your mum/dad/sister/aunt/uncle etc on as second driver.

Nope

What cars though? IME Novas are relatively expensive cars to insure, mainly due to the kind of people that apparently drive them.

When girls crash they tend to have minor dinks and bonks, car park dings or low impact stuff. Whilst blokes have statistically LESS accidents, they do however tend to crash into expensive things, or cause £££££'s worth of damage. Well, if you're going to crash, at least do it properly, right? lol

Most insurance companies will only give discount for thatcham stuff, and some even increase the premium for DIY installs - electrics + novice = fire risk.

206/306 are relatively low cost insurance for what they are. My personal favourite "beginner" car for insurance cost vs power/usability is a Pug 306 durbo. You can insure them for pennies - even at 17 - and with 92bhp and 148lbft of torque they're far from slow :D

I didnt know insurance companies could go by "reputation" rather than actual insurance group.

I find it a bit two faced that they can do pretty much whatever they like, simply because we have no choice but to buy insurance.

they can charge whatever they like, insurance groups are only a guide. Remember insurance is all about risk, and different companies don't see things the same way.

There's no monopoly anyway, so the consumer has a choice of how much to pay (some would argue if the cost is too much of a concern for you, get a cheaper car)

Someone recomended me to NFU, got a silly quote online.

Dont really trust these online jobbies anymore, so might pop into local office, see what the crack is.

sooner or later your going to need a horse and carrige unless your prepared to pay 5 grand insurance on anything.

the only thing ive found is doing every online insurance form. big ones like confused.com and then just smaller companys

i found some cheap quotes on the later pages of google
