Am looking at buying the gaz coilover kit thats on offer with the club at the minute, but want to run coilovers all round, now the car will have back seats so im guessing i will need to turret the back to allow for the coil overs on the rear  , does any one have pictures of what been done before or even if i have to do this :thumb:

Also when oreder my kit what weight spring's do i need to order to run a let nova ? :thumb:

any help is much appreciated cheers :thumb:

i run gaz coilovers all round and i havent turreted yet.they fitted on they just needed a bit of persuision(sp) with a hammer ;) .the kit i got with mine were 250lb front springs and 170lb rears but thats with a 1.6 but i know most people run 300lb fronts if running a bigblock

The only problem is your putting the whole weight of the rear of the car (yes i know novas dont weight much but still) on the shock mounts, the weight is normally held by the spring, this is on the main chassis leg and the rear beam. I would be persuaded to strangthen these areas alot or turret, dont half **** it.

170 lb rears springs are designed for gravel rallying, if you're gonna run it on the road go for 250's minimum, if its a track car anything up to 450 lb would be more suitable, 300 lb on the front would be a bit too much for my liking too, i run 270's with a small block engine but even with a 20 xe i wouldnt want more than 280's
i used a set of turrets designed for an escort from rally design

and i moved and beefed up the lower mount using flat plate and box section, the upper mounts are actually triple skinned as stock so they are strong enough if you can make enough room in the inner arch with a hammer

I've got them on mine, i've beefed up the lower mount on my beam as lee says and he helped me with the specs of mine, i run 300lbs all round and they are great (xe), i had to hammer my chassis.inner arch in but not a huge amount, the top mount on mine is welded around with a proper strut brace welded it it as well, but i'll still be keeping an eye on it.

im guessing the harder the poundage of the rear springs the more skitish the back end will become?and the softer the rear poundage the more likely to induce understeer?am i somewhere along the lines or am i completly off mark:tard:

skittish-ness will only occour if you have poor dampers tbh, ofcourse if you go down a mega bumpy road then even really good dampers will struggle a little, but for track use, the turn in is immense!
you are correct in saying the less poundage the more understeer though, its all about weight transfer, as you turn in if you have soft rears, then the weight transfer is greater and it effectively lifts the front end, meaning less weight over the front wheels and less grip:thumb:

300's all round if you're gonna be using it on the road alot i reckon, here's a pic of the rear beam mod, i did then box the sides of the actual damper mount in too

Mine went on without the need for any hammering, every Nova seems to be different though.

i had to turret the rear of mine as i had no chance of getting the coilover to fit and i found a bit of rust, so i sent the car off to dar's brother for him to sort
