Hi all,
Am in the middle of a restoration (read cutting rust out and replacing with new metal) and a respray (will be project thread soon) I have removed the front and rear windows, but I am not sure about the tailgate and front window. Now it seems to me the front window and tailgate will be a biatch as they are glued in (is this correct?) can any one give me any guidence on how simple or difficult it is to remove and more importantly refit these two windows and also would a respray still be ok if they were left in (is there any tecnique to allow a good spray with them in place)?
Any help appreciated

you want to get back windows out? just get something metal like back of spoon or fork, then just pop out all the seals and the windows just pop out
if you have to leave the windows in get some thick ish wire and lift up the window seals , then thread the wire all round the window under the seal so that it raises it , mask of windows and seals then just paint up to the wire , which when removed will let the seal sit over the new paint so you wont see and lines :thumb:
who tought you that trick riggy?
it was some moo cow mate from bolt-on way lol
Rear boot glass comes out in two mins, Screrw driver in the coner lift it gently and roll the rubber seal over the metal on the inside, do that along the bottom and you'll then be able to pull it out.
Front is bonded in, but if your painting the car deffo take it out, means it can be painted underand you'll never have peeling probs or anything.

Yeah cheers lads,
Got the back out easy peasy, just that front window worries me :) Might have a go with seal lifting tape and if its not good enough remove the front screen and get a company round to refit it (any one ideas who to call/reccomendations?)

I used the wire trick myself on the front window after seeing someone on here mention it, worked great.

Novas with bonded in windows?? definetley not, they are all rubbered into place, with regards to the windscreen just us a stanley knife and cut the rubber seal off then push out the screen from inside, you'll be using a new rubber to put it back into place so dont worry about the rubber seal.

Far as i know the fronts are glued in fromthe factor, as the rubber does lip over the inside..

windscreen on the nova comes out the same way as the back window, push on the window and lift the edges of the seal all the way round :)
just watch you dont push too hard and break it.

Front windscreen is bonded along the bottom edge. I had great fun getting mine out, and cracked it in the process!! Fold the seal in same as the back window and push it out ever so gently. Might be an idea to get a mate or someone to help, and catch the windscreen when it finally comes free!
Start at the top work round to the bottom. Its hard at first but will soon come out.
IMO i wouldnt bother with the wire trick. The time it takes faffing about to get it tucked in, you could have the window out!

There not bonded all the way round. When i took my screen out, it had black sealer/bonder type sticky stuff along the bottom edge. Unless my screen had been out once before and had been refitted with some bonder?
