Thinking about putting one of these engines in a nova but i want to make sure im not just going to want to rip it out striaght away.so:
do they handle like a small block nova?
what is the power delivery like on these engine?are they abit flat accross the rev range or anything?
and do they fit straight in?

cheers

Engines are pretty flat in std trim, still quick mind. But open up the inlet with a powerbox & usual zorst minus its cat & they breath & go well.

Usual 2.0XE is best bang for buck as you know.

cheers craig id do that if i got the engine anyway as im not to keen on the 2ft(ish) standard inlet system.

yeah spose i could go down the 2.0XE path. i just want a nova that i can go to and from work in, then have fun on the weekends.

I've had both mate and there's quite a difference between a 1.6 16v and a 2.0 16v;)

cheers for the info. but if i put a XE in it means a hole load more work, more parts, more weight and petrol...but more power.

Depending what kinda fun you mean, you could do that in a 1.0L..

2.0L XE's are actually pretty economical on long runs, assuming everything is running as it should be.

As for the 1.6XE, although I've only done a few miles in mine, I'm pretty chuffed with how it goes tbh. I wasnt expecting much & its certainly better than I expected. Very pokey & torquey for what it is. [I must get a vid someday soon]

what is the power delivery like on these engine?are they abit flat accross the rev range or anything? A bit flat, but most standard engines are. Easily rectified ;)
and do they fit straight in? Yes

1.6 16v is a great conversion, theres no messing around with suspension or steering so you can corner properly, its a straight swap conversion and with a couple of hundred pound spent on the engine you will have a fairly quick nova

The 1600 16v is only worth doing imo if you are prepared to tune it to over 150bhp otherwise easier and cheaper to either fit a 1600 8v or a XE.

And i have had all 3.

I agree with Ben.
If wanting to stick with a std engine, go 1.6 8v...
So easy to service/repair/replace, and as quick as the standard 1600 16v
If you have the cash to spend though, 16v all the way.

i was thinking about spending a few ££ on the engine. nothing too, crazy exhauast and inlet.cams when i have the money spare..
