would much arch work needed to be done to fit 7.5 x16 wheels et30,
anyone got any pics of arch workdone slightly flaired or widened.

hopefully Rick Draper (MAD_rick) can add some pics but he chopped out the chicken fillet like bit and fitted a larger piece to widen enough all round.

without wide arch rears I think you'll struggle with et30. et45 will prob work out right and give you more clearance for the shocks. expect a wait when ordering the wheels mate too.

oh, and don't tell anyone what wheels you're thinking about ;)

Based on 6 inch rims at 49mm offset being the theortical maximum for novas with unmodded or very slightly modded arches, Math would dictate:

6"=152.4 (width of rim in MM)
152.4/2 = 76.2 (Centre line of rim in MM)
76.2-49 = 27.2 position of mounting face of rim.

7.5"= 190.5
190.5/2 = 95.25
95.25-30 = 65.25

65.25-27.2 = 38.05mm

Meaning the 7.5 inch rim will sit near 4cms further out of the arch... more than just arch mods, as simps says, thats wide arch territory.

The wheels he wants he should be able to get in 45mm offset so will then bring it down to 23.05mm so almost half the above. 2cm isn't too bad tbh. There's almost that much room in the arches as they are now (from memory).

Is that with a 6" wide et49 wheel though?

mine are et 25 and 7j wide running 175 tyres, and it took a fair bitof arch work to get them to roll.

As before:

6"=152.4 (width of rim in MM)
152.4/2 = 76.2 (Centre line of rim in MM)
76.2-49 = 27.2 position of mounting face of rim.

If this is used as our base 'datum' then most would agree it usually gives minimal clearance to the outer arch (3mm either way) and more importantly it gives us about the same (maybe a mm or 2 more) on the inside (towards suspension parts and inner archs and gearbox casings.)

7.5"-6.5" (190.5-152.4) = 38.1 (the Increase in overal rim width)

If we theoretically retained the 49mm offset then half the rim width increase (19.05mm) would end up on the outside and the other half on the inside. Meaning the small distance between the suspension/arches would be reduced to around -15mm. (yes MINUS, ie the wheel would want to be IN the supsension/arch!)
Even moving down to 45mm offset would ounly make things better by 4mm. so the Best offset he could hope to use would be closer 30mm, which would in turn still lead to 35mm increase on the outside.

This is the simple reason why wheel such as Allesios and Compomotives are so popular, they were quite large diameters but retained the ideal 6" rim width and 49mm offset.
