Does anyone know of or come across a decent BHP 1600 16v VTS/GTi engine? If so the basic build spec etc and the output.

Im not asking for opinions on the cars so a sensible answer fankoo

(PS a Viper induction kit and stainless backbox does not count)

You can take 106 GTi's upto 200bhp :thumb:

i know kms management, cat cams 708's,kms throttle bodies,4 branch manifold and magnex system including decat and enclosed bmc filter and your looking at about 175-180 bhp.my mates which is the same spec as above minus the throttle bodies is 160bhp and that hasnt missed a beat.(its also for sale;)lol )its mainly the clutch/gearbox that gives up first though

Reliability will be the same as a standard 130bhp or what ever they are provided its not treated like sh1t.

A safe 160bhp spec is:

A nice safe rebuilt engine to start with...
Headwork (Bowyer Power race engines head)
Cams (Off the shelf piper gear + pullys)
Group N Pug Sport ECU (basically a chipped ECU from Pug with a higher rev limit +2k rev IIRC)
Pug Sport Induction & replica carbon intake box thing
Pug Sport exhaust system (Made by magnex for Pug but ultimatly better then magnex)
4-2-1 manifold with a de-cat
etc etc etc

Steven Gault's just finished his and made over 200bhp unmapped, once he has a play on the dyno he's hopeing for 220bhp. Thats with a huge spec head though, he had to cut half of the head away just so his cam's could turn!

Thats intresting, dont really need that powerful but good to know what the nigh on max is avalible so should be able to improve reliability by dropping down 30ish

Ive got a 51 plate VTS which has done 50k which owed me pretty much **** all, dont want to do too much as time is massive factor but would like a toy and with the Ring, Spa, Zolden on the doorstep been thinking what i can spend my not very hard earned money on.

Problem with Novas i cant be doing with the misaligned steering wheel, rot, and unavalibilty of parts.

106 Turbo near me with 280bhp. No idea on other spec, but the turbo is a gt28rs. If I heard right it was running a gti-6 6 speed box.
