Hi guys,

I have an e16se big valve head that has being ported & polished. The problem being that i want to keep it in the 1.4 class for rallying. Will this fit a 1.4 block or what's the best way of achieving this?

Cheers

measure the Cr (see 1.4 tuning guide in sig link) to ensure it will still be ok.

Other than that, yeah it will fit etc.
What kind of fuelling system are you running?

Thanks for the quick reply Stuart,
So should i still be aiming for 11.0 compression? also will timing belt be for 1.4? I'm using facet fuel pump with filter king regulator at the minute. I'm using 1.3sr engine at the minute so will be using twin 40's off that. What kind of Bhp will i be looking at do you think?

It will massively drop CR because the 1.6 head has deep combustion chambers.
Will need a heavy skim to get it to a higher cr

you will want to sell the 1.3 T40 inlet and buy a T40 inlet for a 1.4SRI or 1.6 GTE/GSI engine.

Will this render the 1.6 head useless if i decide to change to the 1600cc class further down the road? When you save massive how much are we talking taking off for the skim?
Also will 4 branch from a 1.3sr fit this head?
Cheers guys really helpful

the exhaust will fit yes.

I dont think you will need to skim "that" much off it.... you really need to measure it all up to see

What head gasket will i need the 1.4 i presume? I wonder is it worth the hassle should i just sell the head and get a 1.4 one modified?

Use 1.4 gaskets, although if you're going to use the 1.6 rocker cover (different design, built-in oil seperator system) you'll need to get the right gasket for that.

Which 1.4 is it? The carb head is absolute poo (as is the SPi), but the SRi version is a nice one and very similar to the 1.6 GTE/GSi version.

Its the spi version so that was why i was going using the 1.6 head. have many people tried this or is it a bad idea?

In that case, oh dear. the 1.6 head will have a great big 16 cast into the front of it, even if you ground it off, it'd be blatently obvious.

In that case, oh dear. You can't get an spi manifold that matches up with the port shape on the mpi heads, as spi are square and mpi are round, unless you muck around with a bit of alloy welding/port grinding to make them match.

care to read the rest (ie start) of the thread and try again :p
