ive already asked on here how to do it, but i didnt ask how easy it was. you know the vinyl that came on the SR's on the bottom of the door and wings, and on the pillar? anybody actually know how hard it is to remove it.

best way is to just try it on the front wing youve took off your car , i wouldnt imagine it would be that hard .

oh rite, well ive got new doors and new wings that are being fitted soon so they only place i need to remove it is just in front of the rear arch, and pillar. have to get heat gun or hair dryer on it and then it melts the glue and just peels off right?

im not too sure mate tbh ive never removed it as my car never had any vinyl on it , im sure it would be easy thought as most of our work vans have vinyl added to them and the heat gun is the best way altho a hairdryer would work be carefull not to heat it too much as you might dig into the paint or even lift the paint when pulling it off

It's a **** to get off tbh ( in my experience), warm it up a little with a heat gun and gradually pick bits off, then get a bloody big can of tar and glue remover and spend ages getting the glue off.
Or you can do what I did and heat it up too much, and take the paint off at the same time with a metal scraper!

Its time consuming with hairdryers,i was doing it today and had to fire the welding torch up in the end and gave it a good blasting.I just had to move the flame around pretty quickly, the cars getting painted anyway so i wasnt bothered about the paint.Paul.

It takes hours and hours with a hair dryer but it is the neatest way of doing it so the paint underneath is kept tidy, use panel wipe to get the glue off afterwards.
I removed my SR's rear 1/4 vynal friday evening for welding the arch and its a bit time consuming but easy enough -
Heat gun - waft over an area for a while - keep it moving. Once very warm (too hot to leave hand on!) - pick at an edge and peel away - if comes off pretty cleanly - the hotter it is the more glue comes away - once its started to cool the glue resticks so warm another area and carry on - you soon get into a routine. The door sill's the fiddliest.
If you want new vynal I'm getting a full set made up so should be able to order sections if you need replacements...
