recently my steering has gone all heavy and i noticed a knocking noise comming from the front of the car this morning. any ideas?
car is a gte on 15s lowered about 30mm if that helps

Kocking could be cv joint.
Heavy steering could be low tyre pressure.

could also be a fcuk top mount as a damaged one of these would make steering heavy.
as for the power steering..........that's very easily done :)

could also be wheel bearings. jack the car up and try and wobble the wheels, if they rattle then get sum new wheels bearings. dont think they're that expensive.....

heavy steering prob low tyre pressure however if track rod gone, you will feel vibration through the steering wheel when you break (I did) - also will sound like a knocking noise.

Check your tread - my steering was v heavy but my drivers front tyre was bald on the inside - car lowered 60mm on 15's - like driving a lorry!

As for changing track rod - u need a ball joint seperator tool - however most garages will do it for ya for about ?50. You;ll prob need to do yer tracking after changing it. If cars lowered good time to fit poly bushes.
