Cool, how much is the B+ head costing you?
Stick with the 1400 for a bit, when your used to that power get the 16V!
the 1400 with 40's will be quicker and handle better and probably less hassle unless you are prepared to pay over ?2k for throttle bodies.
its a very tunable engine the 1.6 16v but only if u have a nice bank manager

Yeah defo stick with what you have mate, you have nearly everything you need to get your car well sorted so won't cost you much more. My 1400sr is a flyer since I did a similar conversion as you are intending. It's not as straight forward as you may think though, as you will need to make up an alternator bracket (lower), get a longer adjustable bracket for the top, new throttle cable, new gaskets (full cylinder head set if you are taking the head off) new fuel plumbing for the carbs etc etc. Then after all that get the car set up on a rolling road. But believe me it's well worth it once it's all finished. You might want to think about getting a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold (if you haven't already) to increase the flow of your exhaust gasses, this will compliment the cam and 40's a treat. Good luck!

seeing as yuo ahve anything anyway, its a shame not to use it.
Ulitmately though the 1.6 16v is the best engien to have in a nova.
Wish id done one instead of the 2.0 16v i have.
Chip
I'm running a 1.4 16V, it's an insurance sleeper, only grp6, it dead quick and revs nicely. I wanted the 1.6 16V but the insurance is too bad. future plans are velo plenium, 1.6 head and mainfold. should be dead quick. the velos 1.6 16V's make 210 bhp!! the SBD one just made a wooping 265BHP, but it must rev so high. get the conversion if you can afford the insurance, must more tuneable and cheaper than the head you want too.
yes the 1.4 16v head is very restrictive :s
ur suppose to gain around 7bhp by just fiting the 1.6 head. or having it ported to the same size!
It's the bigger valves I'm after, top end gain, withthe inlet it will get a healthy bit of go go. aiming for 140bhp, on std inj, execpt upped fuel pressure zoom
the valves are the same. its the ports on the x14xe engine that are far too small and should be enlarged to the size of the c16xe of head swoped.
upping the fuel pressure maynot make any difference at all on this engine!
Upping the flow rate will incrase the rate the pressure can go up increasing throttle response, is what I meant.

go for the 1400 16v will be much better than what u have and less insurance! the SR is ins grp 7 isnt it? would be worth it just for the induction note!
Second that, and better fuel economy!! All plus's and the scream of a valver.
