Surely not if jetted correctly? Hope not as thats what I have going on mine!

The key with more fuel is also air, aftermarket cams will help the engine breathe better also.

Go for it!

Depends on what engine you have... I'm guessing by your username you have a C20XE?

48's will be fine on a 2.0 and bigger cc, anything less than this they are too big.

They will eat fuel like mad too.
But yeah, they will be ok if you fit the correct sized chokes

its all in the setup....

the "ive heards" are usually old wives tales from cretins that dont bother getting them setup right/setup by a moron.

Very soon, brought them off a fellow member on here already set up for a 2.0 XE.

Done some minor mods but consists of SBD manifold, very short inlet trumpets, facet pump etc. Mine is an early dizzy type coscast XE, got the correct Cav dizzy and ign module etc as well.

Just completing my front mount alternator conversion, then when I get five minutes breather from work and our wedding plans:eek: its in and away:thumb:

Both those pumps are useless for a carb setup.
You need a low pressure Facet or similar.

SBD claim 185bhp, for a std xe with twin 45s, but with MBE ignition.
But with 48s, peak power is going to be higher(depending on choke size)
Id put money on your making more PEAK power, but less overall in the rev range.
