Am I right in thinking the GTE/GSi tiebars are thicker and/or stronger than lesser models? If so, is it worth sourcing and fitting some or these or will there be no handling benefits?

yes the gsi/gte ones are 20mm and the others are 12mm iirc, i was running no anti roll bar with 1.2 ti rods and then upgraded to a gsi setup, handling felt abit sharper

I would swap them when you get a mans engine in there
