what sort of MPG do you get in your 16v nova, if you use it day to day in town driving. and what mods have you done that would make you MPG better or worse
lee
i get around 30mpg the worst mod imo is the big foookin brick in my right foot!!
lol my nova does about 35 mpg with a heavy right foot ,
lol my astra does 31 driving like a granny
I should imagine that you could get very good mpg out of one if it was driven correctly i.e. steady. Weight reduction would improve it, but not as much as taking it steady. Keeping an eye on your tyre pressures (and correcting them) will also improve fuel consumption.
For example I have another 2l 16v car that I used to get around 290 miles per tank of fuel. After changing my driving style I now get around 350 miles to the same ammount of fuel.

About 27mpg town and 33 - 34mpg on motorway in a z20let
Can't remember for the nova its been that long.
Izuzu 1.5TD Corsa I get about 51mpg :thumb:
Seriosuly, I don't mean to sound funny, but, Does anyone actually care? It costs what it costs? If you dont like it, then either get a smaller engine, or drive more conservatively?

baby valvers should muster 100 miles to £10, current fuel prices..
My nova x14xe (tho stripped out) hasnt ran for years - put £45 in it since i got it - mileage reading nearly 400 miles..

this is true, but we are too thick to work out mpg, lol
Anyway - in auto express mag, i read that mpg isnt the ideal formula to work out fuel consumption really, apparently..

Why not? lol Auto Express are far from the best people to listen to, but thats another story
Easiest way to work out MPG:
1. Fill fuel tank to brim.
2. Drive.
3. Refill tank to brim. Make note of how many litres you put in.
4. Divide the number of miles by the number of litres. This is the miles per litre.
5. Multiply by 4.56 to get miles per gallon.
So for example, if you filled up, drove 240 miles then refilled to the top with 30 litres, that would be 8 miles per litre (240 / 3), or 36.5 mpg (8 x 4.56).
I always note the mileage each time I put petrol in the car, record it on a chart that calculates mpg etc. Its then easy to spot when something is amiss when the MPG goes awry lol
