im currently putting a c20let in my nova mk2 and thought i would uprate the suspension whilst im at it. i had a xe engine in before and was useing bilsteins... but it didnt handle very well. ive heard avos are the way forward by alot of people, and ive also heard there to bouncy? and there only good on the front.
what do you think i should use?
cheers!

i use spax rsx, as does olly hewitt, olly hewitts cars is regarded as one of the best handling Nova's... however he has uprated the springs at the front. still on telscopic rears AFAIK though.

Get whatever suspension you want. I run AVO's with no problems . The car dosn't handle bad either ;)

Who told you they were bouncy? Only knackered ones would be bouncy due to them not working (Or not adjusted properly). That goes for any knackered damper.

If your fitting a LET you may want to put 350lb springs on the front. If it's an XE then 300lb.

If you run coilovers on the rear on a normal car then it may be worth stich welding up the seams where they mount.

If you want low, for looks, dont get Avo's

If you want good handling, Avo's are fine.

GAZ are better tho in my honest opinion.(i have avo's btw)

Avo's are good IMO and they handle well, however their downfall is they tend to burst quite easily lol

Which happens when people set them up wrong i.e. winding up the adjustment to get firmer suspension instead of buying stiffer springs.

This is one of my rear ones which is set on soft and has no weight on it. The fronts are fine.

I have them on the rear of mine, quality seems fine.
They do seem to suffer when people drop tham all the way on pan scrapers but use the damping to try & eliminate further travel & tyre scrubbage.

The Simps swore by his AVO's on his LET Nova.

The GAZ/png offer looks hard to beat though.

Just read your comment Adam, im gonna need some new suspension soon but want the rear really low on my 15" Compo TH's. You saying AVO dont go that low then? What does? Yours looks pretty low on that picture though...Im thinking 70 rear / 40-50 front as my down pipe keeps catching.

40/50 front is fine.
But below say 60/65 is a no no on Avo's really.
Because they bottom out (the damper body hits the top mount/bump stop)
Well, mine do anyway, unless they've changed the design of the new ones.
Nathans also do the same.

One of the GAZ kits goes mega low.

Mine on Gaz coilovers, still plenty of travel on them as well.

I considered AVOs but managed to get a cheap set of Spax RSX (with ecentric mounts), which are a phenomanal improvement on the standard 'uprated' spax kit i was using before. I wanted avos because they have the option of 1.9" rear coilovers to replace the standard seprate spring/shock nova rear end. I also had some FKs (highsports) breifly before the RSXs, but they were non adjustable shocks so I couldnt make the them firm enough (IMO). I think the fully adjustable FKs (konigsports) would have probly worked well though, and they have the slotted mounts on the hub/drive flange mounts to give easy camber adjustment.

Just to add Gaz also do the 1.9" rear coilovers now which I have.

I had the Avo rear coilovers and sent them back to go back to seperate shocks and springs as the Avo ones were bottomed out at about 60mm drop due to the length of the coilover body.

Right, gives me a bit to think about then....who do GAZ coilovers and can you get them with XE/LET lb spec front springs? I know Chris Astley does his Avo's with them. I initially looked at FK and through rim style i think you can get 2.0 front springs with them. It is a road car so i dont want it mega stiff but just enough so i can give it some every now and then without fear of the front diving loads...

btw Lee, that is exactly how id want mine to sit on the back, front ill play around with and see what feels good higher than 50mm

there is a GAZ deal for club members :D for both the "normal" telescopic damper + seperate spring and also proper 1.9" coilover for the rears at no cost difference.

I beleive Chris does GAZ as well as as AVOs

I always deal with Gaz directly, very good service.
