Hi all, i'm thinking of getting a personal plate. I'm just wondering if anyone knows the specifications and criteria a plate has to meet? What can you get away with and what would get you stopped?

basically, anything other than standard font in standard size with standard spacing is just drawing attention to yourself and giving plod an excuse to pull you over.

I was thinking about just moving charecters between the blocks.
i.e J8 YAW
is J8Y A W

If you cant afford a plate that looks right in STD form then dont buy one ;)

Change your name to match the plate on your car, probably cheaper ;)

http://www.ukdps.co.uk - deed poll... £34. bargain. £5 more if you do it on the phone or in person, so might as well just fill in the form online, give your card details and click submit. Done. Certificate arrives a few days later.

Yeah, don't miss space it mate, you will only earn a 30 quid fine. The main reason is that the ANPR cameras can't read them when not correctly spaced.
However you still get a fine through your letterbox to tell you this.
Technology eh.
