View Full Version : smokey
ive got a gsi 1600 but when i put my foot down im getting a lot of smoke (not white or blue) just dirty smoke it fine when im driving normally oh and im burning alot of oil. :(
I've had my car on the rollers and had the ecu reset, do you think the head gasket maybe on it was out or the oil seals im not to clever on head work :?
prob oil seals/piston rings.
I you accelerate hard this will burn oil rapidly causing smoke
You could try a treatment in the engine seeif that helps - 1st stop before getting engine worked on.

If you can get hold of a compression tester, it will give you a good idea where the problem lies. Do a test and note the readings. Next put a little oil into the spark plug hole and re-test each cylinder. If the reading rises significantly then its the bores/piston rings that are worn (the oil seals the gap caused by wear and increases the compression) if the reading does not rise then the problem is likely to be the valve guides.
Manta is corect, however, make sure its gearbox oil u use, and the other option would be the valve stem seals now guides.
Do you have oil getting into the coolant, or are you loosing coolant?
Where abouts in the west midlands are you m8, im in stoke
