thinking about chopping out the firewall, i wanted to know if theres any welding / strengthening that needs doing to acompany this, or can u just chop it out ? also, whats the best way to go about it, cut along the line low down.. and then grind it flush and slap some sealer stuff over the bare metal ?

Please don't cut through the air cleaner assembly. Foreign bodies will enter your Novas internals and abuse him :(
Where is Meriltlover when you need him? lol

just use a grinder, or a plasma cutter :thumb:

you could leave abit of lip to overlap(inwards) so you culd give it a few switch welds and it will look neater then just choping it were the lineswont be str8 lol

Don't do it, it looks pants unless its a dedicated track car.

I agree with Keith. It's not worth doing unless it's a dedicated car. However there are two stages you can go to.

1) Cut down to the obvious line where the firewall meets the rest of the car. This leaves about a 3/4" lip. I put some edging over this so that I didn't have any sharp edges. This just requires either a grinder or some tin-snips.

2) Cut the whole bastid lot out and weld up the seam. ala
