one has an X one has a C

the C engine doesnt have a factory fit immob where as the X does, the heads are identical depending on casting so i read

The c16 has an airflow meter and a plastic inlet manifold, whereas the x16 runs on manifold absolute pressure (map), and has an alloy inlet.

So basicly nothing then?

The standard cams are good to 150bhp.

X and C have a different head, inlet ports are slightly larger on C16(hence a few bhp more power as std)

X16xe has metal upper inlet, no afm, SAI and EGR systems, and a map sensor
C16xe has plastic upper inlet, and a afm(air flow meter)

The basic engine is pretty much identical, i wouldn't specifically look for a certain engine, just whatever comes along.
But be aware that these engines suffer with oil burning issues(even from new), so check for blue smoke.

Err, yeah lol :D

I wouldn't worry about a bit of blue smoke on startup(stem seals), but i would be worrying if you can see blue smoke under full throttle.

Quickest way of tuning them is to stick a new inlet on! IIrc you can get cheap 1's on ebay for £185 or a tasty Dbilas 1 for £500+ from regal

Dont worry about the oil burning too much....You only need to change the stem seals to sort it! :)

The valve stem seals are errrm a bit crap! Some C16's were fitted with undersize pistons at the factory making them a bit smokey, they were recalled but obviously not all will have been done.
