if you dont get help by tomorrow i'l find out what wires go to which pin, but you might be able to get the plug it self from somone maybe.

On the diagram it says theres only a blue and red wire for the speedo but in the transducer there is 3 terminals?,just wondered if i could get round the problem without the plug. Also where the 3 wires go would be good to know aswell please.
Cheers,Andy
*edit* Just shone a torch on it and looks as though only 2 terminals have been in use so im guessing the previous owner of these had the same problem

Andy

Guide says "1 earth, and 2 other wires to the correct wire on the plug" which states it being a blue and red wire?

right if you hold the transducer so the little bit that sticks in is at the bottom.
The above one is black.
Left is blue/red
right is earth/brown.

If you need more help let me know.

To repeat what a few others have said, some Novas (and presumably a few other Vauxhalls) use an electronic speedo sender which shares the same 3 pin plug. Have a quick browse in a scrapyard to see if you can find one.

I may have a spare so I'll take a look later to see if I can help you out.

Thanks mate, much appreciated,if you could let me know either way.

Hooray it's your lucky day, found one in my garage. It has a few cm of wire left, enough to solder/crimp connections to. PM me or add me to MSN Messenger (address in my profile).

You got the plug okay then?

Does it only not light up when the gearbox sender is plugged in?

Yeah got it thanks, ive left you feedback:thumb:
I havent connected that bit up yet,i connected all the browns yes and connected all the blacks to the black behind the dash.Or is it the black at the blackbox? Or some there and some at the dash? Everything seems to work fine just doesnt light up so was a bit puzzled as to why not:confused:

Also what (if any) differences are there between the wires on a mk1 compared with the mk2 diagram please?

AlexW
30-07-08, 07:37 PM
There is a differance between mk1 and mk2 iirc, Have a look in the mk2 dash conversion artical (There is one right?)

There should only be two main halogen bulbs andy, its rare to find em where they havent blown on a conversion try another bulb to make doubly sure that its not just a pair of ok looking but blown bulbs.

Also i seem to recall from the last guide that i had there was a mention of a trailor tell tale (single black wire) that youre supposed to leave out this could be the cause if youve joined it in with the rest at a guess?

Andy
30-07-08, 11:29 PM
Hmm 1 is deffo blown from what i can see.The other 1 looks fine.and ive tried blacks connected and unconnected,i was just wondering after connecting which wire would the display light up because most things, barring headlight light have been connected then i got mad and hot lol
