Just got a set of digi dials what im putting in my Mk1 Nova.
Preferably id like to keep the Mk1 brown dash, but have heard these clocks are a nightmare to put in a mk1 dash.I dont really want to savage it putting these in as these dashes are hard to come by these days.So could i do a mk2 dash conversion and then put these straight in as per ********nova******(:p) guide? Or would it mean butchering the brown 1 to get them in if i were to keep that 1?
Hope this makes sense lol
Any help is always appreciated:thumb:

How involved is it?,ive had a look at peesters wip and it looked like alot of cutting, filling etc and the whole point of me keeping the brown dash is to have a brown dash-if that makes sense lol So i dont really want to balls it up,id get it flocked but thats a waste of a brown dash imo.So im a bit stumped as to what to do

Hmm i dont know if id like a flock brown,if it was flocked i think it would be black ftw tbh
Just wondered how hard it is to put it in really without filler etc

Judging from peesters info its not going to be easy to do without filler, why not source some yellow dial nova clocks instead, save cutting up a brown dash.

Dont want nova clocks thats what this thread is all about, also not wanting to ruin the dash aswell!

Unless you want to go and get a grey dash to practice on I don't think you'll have a lot of luck putting a digi dash first go without messing it up.

I would like to see it done to a brown dash but tbh, it won't be too easy.

Thats what im going to do ive got a grey dash at my mates to try it out first,i know its not going to be easy but it will have to go in lol
If it ends up involving loads of filler etc ill just keep the grey dash and flock it.On the otherhand if i can do it without filler it will go in the brown dash

when i put a digi dash in my mk1 sr i took the dash out and cut the shape out the back using the astra speedo surround as a template. I fitted the digi dash from behind and bonded plastic clips to hold it and no filler was needed and it was 1st attempt. :thumb:

Why not get some paint matched to the brown dash and do the digi stuff to the grey one and have it sprayed brown, and sell your brown dash.

i done it over 5 years ago and the car is long gone sorry no pics. I remeber one side fitted behind the dash securing bolt and the other was fibreglassed in with a piece of plastic. Maybe practice on a grey one just incase.

It can be done without filling/fibreglassing - we were just a bit 'out' with our measurementslol. Also i wanted a perfect fit between dash and clocks which you could only get with an astra mk2 GTE digi dash surround.
i think its saloonwoody - hes managed to fit digi dash clocks into mk1 with out filler n stuff... and it looks near perfect..
Its a proper pain in the **** tho; ide,as suggested, go for top rate GTE mechanical clocks.
