Or, go buy a gearbox from a scrappy. Then come back later (with yours) and give them some sob story/say it doesn't work/your's has started working again and return it. Offer the geezer a tenner for 'messing him about' - waheeeey! He gets a tenner for nowt, and a gearbox which he can sell again! Tried and tested method.

Oh, and if you need tools - get them from halfords, and return them once used (just clean them-up, makle sure you don't scratch anything).

Oh, the memories of my student days! Though i earned a decent ammount from my part-time job.
