As long as I can remember lol
There used to be a black J plate GSi knocking about when I was at school, 93/94, so was a pretty new car still and he had OMG Speedlines lol
It was awesome. used to use it as a pizza delivery car and some **** nicked it when he was at someones door I heard, probs left engine running :(

LOL that just reminded me, around that time there was a back page mini feature in Max IIRC on a black Corsa B SRi and a black Nova GSi, both on 17" MIM Raffinos. I wanted the Nova and my mate wanted the Corsa lol
They looked stupid.

Don't know what got me into them really there was always one in the family

I was 17 just started driving, bought a 1.1 fiesta. Love it, always stuck to the speed limit, £10 petrol a week to work and back lol

It failed its mot, after about 2 months owning it. That week i was off work, went back on the monday and salesman said to me i hear your car failed mot, ive got a nova for you thats been traded in.

6k on the clock, 1.2 snap 1 elderly woman owner with full vauxhall service history. Not sign of rust anywhere. Bought it for £400 and it went from there

i actually started paying attention to novas due to a girl at school i fancied, her older boyfriend had one and used to put it down all the time (why i thought shed dump a bloke with car for my mountain bike ill never know lol) then i started getting into cars and the nova found me, all the boys round here had them so we'd see them racing round when we was out at night, there was just something so cool about 4-5 novas cruising round ilson of a night time

ummm, Im still waiting....

Wanted a mk3 polo coupe as a first car, but ended up with the red nova. 'pos its a bit differant to the Fiestas and Golfs everyone else had at the time.

Funny how many of my family actually owned Novas before, but were to ashamed to admit it till I got mine. My Gran had a silver 1.3SR (one of the very first, bought new) My Mum had a burgo brown 1300 GL, Uncle's both had them, cousins, etc

My neigbour had a F plate red 1.3 SR which I loved, had it for years, F41*** cant remember rest, read about them in max power, (walshys!!) and read ins group 5 and thought thats what i'm having. When I think back I can remember loads around my street

White mk2 SR
Red mk1 SR
Black GTE
white Merit (low low miles a mates mams may dig out the pics of us on a day out in it when I was about 11)

I also remember talking to a old scholl friend about the NEW vauxhall Corsa. back in '93 and him saying he prefered the Corsa to his Nans Nova as hers was a 4door. God that lad had no taste.

my mum got a toyota starlet as part of her divorce settlement. it was crap.... the local vauxhall dealer gave her the best trade in, & she became the proud owner of a 1983 astra 1.3ls 5 door. We loved it. my gran came into some money & decided grandads apple green metallic marina had to go, & she told my mum to go & get another vauxhall for grandad.. she bought a 1984 1.2 carmine red merit 3 door. Grandad had it for 2 years then died & we then were allowed the use of the nova. For my sister this meant bouncing off every parked car in Leicester. for my brother it meant conceiving his first child. for me it meant a lifetime of nova obsession & 22 years on I still have a red merit 3 dr. I have owned about 6 over the years & 3 astras

WOW, Now your talking. In 1993 there was a divide, you either had a fiesta or a nova.
I was alway going toward vauxhall. My parents bought me a Jamaican yellow 1.3 sr which already had a 32/34 carb. I remember a guy called Paul Barber who made one of the first 16v conversion in my area, I remember driving it, I could'nt keep it in a straight line.
I had the Jamaican for a year before I was one of the first to have a 1.4SR Mk2 J plate. My mates ripped the piss saying I could have built a 16v for the price. (£6800)
So there was Me and Ben ( fast car feature 95 ), Paul, Kelvin, and the rest, there was 11 of us in total, all with novas nearly each with different engines.
I've always loved the nova, I've had alot of nice cars since (Cosworth, porsche 944, Clio16v, R5TT, SupraTT) but I don't know what it is about the nova. 15 years on and I've just brought a white nova GTE today. It felt so good driving it. You can't not like these cars.

First car I saw that provoked a reaction of "one day I would like to own one of those" was in 1994, then came to my senses and thought I'd never have one. Little did I know 9 years later there would be one sat on my driveway and the keys in my hand!

Used to go to swimming lessons with a friend and his mum had a shiny new Club but the interest didnt start until about 18 when a mate had a 1.2 Swing with a brown check SR interior and SR rear Spoiler. I was into Mini's at the time but after nearly being killed by a mate in his when he crashed it I decided to buy something a little more sturdy.
My mate moved onto an F reg SR and another mate had a black D plate snow plough SR so I bough a G plate 1.4 SR in black.
We then all moved into Sports, all 5 of us!!!

Never thought much of Novas as a kid, or indeed cars in general. My mum had a 1.2 merit saloon for years, when I started learning to drive in it, I fell in love with it, thought it was so much better than the corsaB I was having proper lessons in. I eventually got to have the car myself, but it rusted to bits sadly. I enjoyed driving it so much I had to buy another one, and another, and I don't think I would be happy not owning one.

can anyone else remember when they first fell for the nova

A middle aged couple living at the end of the road I grew up in had a mk2 Cav Sri & she drove a jamaica Yellow B reg SR.

Though I always thought I'd be more into Astra GTE's as I was in love with mk1 & mk2 1.8 8v's back before the 16v was released. There was a guy on the end of our block that had a white mk1 followed by a white mk2 aswell as all his motocross bikes.

Good times. :)

origionally never liked em myself - stupidly i listened and absorbed all the talk of the bad rep they had and cast them aside as a shi-tty chav car.
but one day after i had become carless due to driving at silly speeds in a rear wheel drive car with allready shredded back tyres from doing doughnuts in a farmers field, a friend of mine had this 1 litre nova that was fcuked (had been rolled at slow speeds apparently, body bit shabby and mirrorless) and he was prety much about to dump/torch the thing, and offered it to me for nowt, naturally i took the car. first time i took the car out it was bellowing smoke/steam out the dash, and i thought " oh my fcukin days " but i couldnt complain cos the thing was free!, anyhow after id sorted all the probs out (ALOT of probs) and the car was roadworthy-ish again, i thought to myself " fcuk me, these little nova's aint bad at all ". im on my fourth one now.

oddly, the original png actually put me off a bit.
I went to a regional meet in Luton & the coordinator had a 2.0 8v in an sr, I had my homemade 1.4 in a beige A reg thing with snowplough, gte skirts & rear spoiler, everyone else turned up in 1.2s with crazy graphics, big alloys & promptly opened their hatchbacks & stood round looking at each others ICE.

then we drove to a pub, the 1.2s were wheelspinning everywhere, & acting like prats........At least the coordinator bloke was nice.. he used the nova as a tow car for his f2 stockcar. that was in about 1994

Then a mate bought a star silver 1.2 mk1 with the dark grey vinyl as a first car, with a 1400 astra lump dropped on its a$$ on cav slabs and full GTE kit, it was ace it went like a whippet on speed and cornered like it was a scalextric car i loved it and instantly wanted one, had about 9 of them now and sooo need another one lol!

And from then on ive always loved the nova and always wil
