View Full Version : removing doors?
you need to remove the pins, draper sell a tool, about a tenner iirc.
no need for buying a tool, use a hammer and a long screwdriver. and pliers to get the little clips off the pins. and best to get the bottom one out first
A bonnet stay is good too.
na you can do it on your own. but when it gets to the last pin you need to hold the door at the right angle to get the pin out. i used a jack to keep it at the angle i wanted

Im really interested on how to get my doors off so biggs if you dont mind would you post them pics up im having a go today but want to know the best way about it.
 Never heard of using a bonnet stay
bonnet stay and vaux jack handle are the same diameter as the door pins so good for driving them out, esp when at the scrappy lol
Also depends what type of pins are in there, not all have a lip to get hold of. Spray loads of wd40 or similar in there first to loosen things up as the pins usually seize then best bet is definately a hinge pin removal tool and a big hammer.
When refitting use m8 caphead (allen key type) plain shank bolts, shank just shorter than the length of the hinge and plenty grease :thumb:
imo and ive done this a fair few times. the easiest way is to remove the front wings. then with the door closed you knock out both pins. with both pins out you simply lift the door off ;). no risk of damage and no risk of straining yourself
