Sorry i got about 2 pics because i was out on track for 90% of the time lol

AWESOME evening :D
Arrived at Donny about 4pm, met up with Nathan & co, Iainel, and Tom Reid.
Got signed on, and sorted the briefing by 5pm, ready for 5.30pm start.

First few laps Nathan had the usual XE problem of it throwing half the oil sump up through the breather system= smoke everywhere on the dunlop straight lol
So he pitted and sorted that out with a coke bottle as a catch tank

Have to say, my car went superbly :D, brakes were awesome(but after about 20mins of action i could smell burning brake fluid, but carried on anyway lol ) Might be something to do with the motor factors DOT 4

Weather was forever changing, started completely dry, and then had heavy rain.
The difference the Avo's have made is quite amazing, but yet again ****e budget front tyres held my car back with them being good for a few laps and then just turning to mush giving some big understeering moments lol (i.e. having a full turn of the steering with the car still going in the opposite direction lol ), and mega wheelspin.

Nathan also had a prob with his fuel pump siezing, which he sorted in the pit garage and got back out there, top stuff :thumb:

Just looking back over some of my video footage and i must have been on track for about 2-2.15 hours out of the 3  lol

Overall, awesome evening, well worth the cost, CANT wait for Eurofest at Combe in September now.

I'll upload some of my vid footage, and my pics later/tomorrow :)

Had an awsome evening even if i did have a couple of problems.
Was good to put the nova to the test after building it.

As Adam said 1 st lap out i left a big cloud of smoke down the dunlop straight and i was blacked flagged. So i disconnected the breather pipe and used a coke bottle to catch the oil. Then i was back out on track with no smoke at all

Second problem was the fuel pump stopped working as i was coming into the pits. I was pretty pissed off lol. Second fuel pump failure in 2 weeks. I pretty much gave up with the nova but my mates cracked on and managed to get the pump working again.
It seems there must be quite alot of crap in the tank so i'll need to flush it and perhaps fit another fuel filter before the pump.

All in all it was a great evening.

Adam have you modified the baffle plate in the rocker cover?
That may be why you are chucking all the oil into the catch tank.
Under hard cornering the oil goes into the baffle plate and because of the forces cant drop back down so goes into the catch tank.

There is a link on SBD website on what to do below
http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Info_sheets/Oil_systems/2.0L%2016v%20SBD%20Cam%20cover%20breathing%20modif ication.htm

Hope this helps

Martin-Aye, it was Naths xe doing that. Classic xe problem, easily fixed with the breather mod :)

Uploaded my two vids(only had a 60min tape), so ive just uploaded the best parts.
Notice near the end of the 2nd vid how unstable/understeery my front end is compared to the start of the vid (around 6mins 55, on vid 2) .... Down to tyres? Opinions?

1st outing, mainly dry, took it quite easy first few laps(only my 2nd time ever out on a track..)

2nd outing, heavy rain. Nathan going slightly sidewards @ 8mins

Quality aint the best because Google Vid sucks and compresses everything downscale lol

Quality vids Ad and some top driving :thumb:

I'll be honest, i struggled to pass you on the pit straight . Pretty nippy car you have!!

I went sideways 3 times on that lap. I think if it wasn't for the quikrack i would've been facing the other way.

Watched your video there Adam - Sounds mean as f*ck going round there and has a good turn of speed

I like how I can make out the angle of the rev-counter needle - Sitting right back up the rev-range, awsome :)

Yeah, mine went pretty well. That burgundy mk1 nova had a xe and i kept with him down the dunlop straight to about 105mph when he went past me(and his car was totally stripped too)
So if i could get mind handling a touch better, it would go quite well :)

Vaughan-Aye, i mounted the cam so you could see some of the dash/speedo/rev counter, as its more interesting to watch :)

Nice driving Ad. Your lines looked good and track etiquette was spot on :thumb:
I'd recommend punching it down through the gears as you're braking, gives an extra bit of braking and means you're always in the right gear should you need it.
