View Full Version : What driveshafts have I got then???
My nova is fitted with a 1.6 16v corsa gsi or sport engine with whatever box it is (f13 or F15 I'm not sure:tard: ). Anyway, this engine will be coming out shortly to make way for my redtop with F20. Will my current shafts fit the new setup?
the gsi shafts will fit mate but need big block inners iirc
No they wont... unless they are the rare 22 spline type which I doubt tbh..
New shafts for you pal, I'm afraid...
Most Novas that are still running have had the shafts changed at some point. There is no way you can say yes or no without actually looking at them.
I broke a GSi and 2 TD Novas a few months back, only to get 1 short 22spline shaft from the GSi and 1 long one from one of the TDs. I've pulled 22 spline shafts out of 1.2 Novas before, it all depends on what the scrappy has supplied.
Take a photo of the inner CV joints as they are on the car, and post it here. It's pretty easy to tell whether they're the right ones.
HTH :)

you need to pull the CV boot back, so you can see the actual shaft.
oh well, it's propper peeing down now so I'll just wait till I pull the motor out over the next couple of days and we can have a proper look then. If I need new shafts then I need new shafts!

They are 28 spline inner shafts - standard ones in other words.
anyone got a pair of 22 spline shafts then?
phil, just out of interest how can you tell without looking at the spline ???
The 22 spline one has a boot thats smaller than the diameter of the main part of the CV.
Like this. http://www.xen0phobiak.f2s.com/novaload/shaft.jpg
ahhhhh, you learn somthing new everyday.
Yep, the inners are a slightly different shape if they were 22's

yep thats pretty much it really, get used to it when your used to seeing them every day.
So when I get some 22 spline shafts will my outer cv's fit or will I need all 4 new joints?
yeah outers will be fine if you need to use them
