View Full Version : Pearl Yellow Nova with 1.6 16v Lump?
Hi all,
While I was at VBOA on sunday i noticed a very nice looking Nova GSi in Pearl Yellow that had a 1.6 16v engine on Bike Carbs and would like to know who owns it cause I would like to ask them a few questions about the bike carbs on that engine.
I have a Corsa GSi and would like to do use bike carbs on my engine but not sure what Managment is best to use.
Many thanks
Stuart

His name is ben I believe, I only just met him at the weekend myself. The only management on it is for the ignition, so you'd only need something like a mega-jolt set-up.
Cheers guys,
Thanks for the info
Anyone know what his username is?

its had a few rebuilds overs the year iirc,
its been around for AGES.
Not my cuppa tea, but looked clean enough.

Looked like it was running the standard ecu to me...
Could see it chucked under the scuttle blower motor plastic cover.
the door handles are awesome

He was an old skool PNG member IIRC. It used to have 15" Rover wheels.
I did see in a pic it looks to have quite a trick looking bias box brake setup on.
ahh yes i forgot about that bit craig. looked like some one off fabrication that thing
Rover wheels, is this the old one that had the 200 GTi 5 spokes?
The brake setup was different a lot you see.

Aye the inlet has no place for the Altinator bracket. Something I must sort on my SX.
16xe's dont have thread on the inlet for the alt bracket, they mount in the side of the coolant gallery housing by the inlet(you can see the thread in that oic)

Interested to know wether that actually goes any better than a regular powerbox tuned smallblock.
Exatly what i was saying at Billing./\
Bet it sounds cool as funk though. But as said, it looked like it was running just a std 16xe ecu which is hardly perfect.

Ben isn't in the country much so the car doesnt get used that much. Also limited time to do things to it so it probably is a temory fix. He trailored it down as he was tlling me it needs a few things sorted first, maybe management is on of the things
Ive been chatting to ben on JOV for the last few days about the engine and the carbs.
He says that he's still running the standard management using the crank, cam and knock sensors. oh and the dizzy pack of obviously. Apparently the EML light is always on but it runs fine.
Very tempted to do this to my GSi as I cant see it costing more than £400.
Also what Fuel Reg is he using as I cant make it out in one of the pics.
Cheers Stu
Theres a small flat (strange looking) pressure regulator on the firewall
ECU light will always be on because he has no afm/map sensor/tps input to the ecu, so it'll be running in limp home mode with fook all ignition advance.
