I'd be tempted to give it a bit more room than that, especially if you're using nova mounting rubbers.

Looking good though.

You need a backplate and a filter.
Everywhere sells them (demon tweeks etc etc)
But space looks tight there, might have trouble fitting a filter.

Dont use sock filters.

Oh, and clean that engine up! lol

I would consider cutting out the firewall, give more room and wont clump the your shiny new trumpets when you give it some

thats not the engine im using lol.its a spare1 im using to make sure there was room for alternator and to see how the bodies fited.i dont realy wana cut the wall it would be a shame and look wierd.whats wrong with socks?

For 90mm trumpets, you need to look for a JC50 backing plate, and a ITG130 dome filter. :thumb:

nova 2L 16V
25-08-08, 11:27 AM
because 1 day my mate phoned me and said the just bought sbp full throttle bodie kit,and i wna be faster than him lol .so i sold what i had done with the gsxr throttle bodies and bought the direct to head set up lol .im very glad i did coz they look the bomb :)

they do look sexy!

i'm stuck between going for bike carbs or bodies. Don't wanna go full bodies cos of the cost. What manifold where you going to use to mate the head and bodies?

nova 2L 16V
25-08-08, 11:54 AM
it all depends on how much money you have.i bought the gsxr 750 on ebay for 50pounds then i re spaced them.with bodies iv always been told you need good air flow so you will need a good inlet to go with them.i would have bought 1 of boggbros even though it would have cost 200pounds.then you ned a ecu,i got the v3 its fully reprogramable.so you could have the throttle body setup for 500pounds if your watch the pennies.but the direct to head is only 780 and then you need a ecu but the benefits from thes bodies is much better than home made stuff

The Simps
25-08-08, 12:06 PM
i was gonna fit the carbs and then upgrade to bodies later as funds allowed hoping the carb manifold would fit onto the bodies.

Adam
25-08-08, 12:10 PM
They would have different spacing, so the inlet wouldn't fit. Unless you were extremely lucky and found both sets were spaced the same.

Or, have the bodies respaced to suit the inlet

Small update.

iv put the bodies on my blue xe nova and its curently in the prosses of being wired up to the megasquirt v3 by a auto electrics man. but iv sorted the vacume for the survo by taking a little bit of vacume from every body where there was a blanked screw which i gather would be used for water injection system. But i was also thinking if i need vacum for the MAP sensor i think il be ok if a put a t piece in the line before the one way valve for it.

Whent to se how my loom for the throttle bodies was coming alomg today so i took my camera with me. As this nova used to be carb there was no bracket to mount it onto behind the dash so my friend gave me one from his xe nova as he didnt need it. but because of the way the megasquirt mounts to the bracket it had to be on a slight angle because of the brake survo bracket.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii157/daznova/cars163.jpg?t=1234624821

and iv cut a small hole at the back of the glove so the laptop cable can be accesable quick and easy.

the wiring is nearly compleated it only needs joining to the ecu now and it will ready for the start.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii157/daznova/cars166.jpg?t=1234624993

Small update as its been a while. Well the blue nova has been sold now and i now have a 106 diesel van as a run around. I decided to send the 86.75mm pistons back and geta set of forged 87mm which are wossner. So the block has been rebored again to suit the larger pistons. As soon as i get a water pump, head gasket and a set of ARP head stud convertion the block will be put back together and the head will be on and timed ready to go into the car.

here is a picture of the pistons, sorry if picture is poor as they were taken on my camera phone due to my camera not working at time.

Mmmm nice :)

You've had the block decked, just what I was thinking of when I saw the pics of the first overbore. Good thinking. Balanced crank and other gubbins are also very nice. Good to see lots of interesting builds going on btw!

thanx, Its taking a lot of time, engine should be done very soon. As im doing a foundation degree in civil engineering its hard to find time to do work on the car and working 5 days a week lol. Colage finish for summer in end of may so Il have a couple of months to give it a blast.

Nice build mate, very nice indeed, one thing though i found is them FPR/boost valves are ****, they cant hold a stable pressure, and as you wont need to adjust it with TB you may as well buy a decent set pressure one, like the sbd one, i got one and it made a huge difference to mine.

Got the jig, just needs a slight mod to suit the nova. The front will be fine to fit but I cant think how im going to fix it at the rear.

skin is quite thick there andits linked into the chassis rails. End of the day the bare shell isn't "that" heavy.

Small update had some parts sand blasted and powder coted. Also started to fit the poly bushes but I think some will need pressing in.

Also stripped the rear axle which I had made 2 years ago lol as I intend to get it sand blasted and powder coted as I like the powder finish looks clean and will protect the parts.

Those powdercoated bits look very nice! Bushes shouldn't need anything more than a vice to fit though.

Tried to fit the bottom arm bushes today I get them in with a vice but when I go to put the round bar in it pushes one out slightly even with oil as lubrication. Also Im sure they sent the wrong anti roll bar bushes as they seem to small.

Can you fit one half of the bush, then the insert, then push the other side in with a vice? I had a similar issue to you and I rounded the inside edge of one of the sides slightly with a stanley knife so the insert was kind of 'guided in' rather than catching on the edge.

Have you got a project on the go?

Benn
05-04-10, 02:43 PM
Just make a tool for the bushes. Bit of threaded rob a few large washers and 2 nuts. then you just wind one nut in and the washers push the bushes in.
