ive just put my engine in to my nova today. After i bolted all the mounts up i looked to check everything was where it was supposed to be. To my annoyance i have caught one of the heater matrix pipes (the one you cut down) and bent it beyond repair:mad:
My question is, how easy is it to change the matrix with the dash out? I will be taking the dash out anyways.
I presume the damaged pipe is just joined straight to the heater matrix?
cheers for any help.

piece of pi$$ mate.
once dash is out is just a case of unbolting the unit and pulling it through. The pipes are all part of the matrix yes.
its failry easy with the dash in or out, with the dash in its quite fiddly but its only 4 bolts (7mm head) from underneath then out

Are mk1 and mk2 heater matrix the same?
As far as i know they are ? should be able to reuse it tho ...
Instead of chopping the pipe down on mine to clear the inlet i've got a flexi hose (kitchen tap hose) attatched to the matrix, gives you loads of clearance between the inlet, costs about £6 from Wickes.
I had to file the pipe on the matrix slighty to allow the olive and sleeve nut to fit over, once on it just nips up then you just need to fit a short section of copper pipe on the other end to clamp a rubber hose to it.
