Is there a thread relating to engines there usefulness etc etc.

Tell you why... I have a ecotec engine a coscast head and a gm head and want to know how to construct the best engine as cheaply as possible....

ie ecotec bottom end and coscast head etc....

or otherwise some other ideas?

Hi Simon,

I dont know about the specifics of the 2 heads but what I would say is that the heads on the newer engines such as the eco tec engines are considered very good as std. Probably not worth the effort messing about with changing the heads.

if its got power steering pump, that'l need come off im fairly sure, might need to do something with the pulleys down there too. m8 of mines got a vectra sri and it sticks out loads, the vectra bay can just about take it, 136 odd brake those engines are no ?

will a coscast head fit on an 8v ?

The newer engines are capable of large power no doubt but the newer they are, the more complicated the transplant becomes and the more in unchartered territory you will be in. Its all do-able just depends what you are after and how much you want to spend and how much aggro you are prepared to put up with.
