I've been struggling to sort the Imobiliser on my Small Block 14 16v so I've been seriously considering Carbs. I've seen a set of Honda CB600 Hornet Carbs at the right money but I dont know the tolerences or if they'd get me away. I can get Weber or Delorto 40s but these are stupidly cheap compaired to the 40s.

So, how do I find out if these'd suit my 1.4 16v?

i have a set off cbr 600 rr fireblade carbs i bought for my 8v they have the same size chokes as a set of weber 40s and theyd be a lot more reliable, cant really say first hand cos i didnt fit them ive changed my plans now so they aint needed should be good on a 14 16v id have thought though

I assume they run the same way, ie the set up will need the Fuel Pump and Regulator as the 40s do.

Has anyone got any info on them being fitted etc?

thing is if you fit bike carbs you still need some sort of management for the ignition?

find yourself a c16se loom and ecu instead ;)

Megasquirt is pretty cheap, and you can get the the fuel reg off the bike for really cheap new i think

I'd have thought so as well Burgo, but its just not happening!!

As for the c16se Loom and ECU, I have one but will it run the 1400 as I think I spoke to you about the 1600 engine.

Also, you in PNG chat? Wouldnt mind picking your brains about the VSS.

you need proper ignition management which again is still not cheap, woud cost at least £500 to get some form of carbs running on a small block 16v..

just buy a matching ecu/chip/transponder for the likes of around £50 and problems will be sorted..

That was the initial plan but I cant get the ****ers anywhere. I even put a Wanted add in here and got no reply.

buy a megajolt (spark only computer) for about £100, quick manifold, regulator and your sorted.

Ditto that /\

My MegaJolt cost £90 fully built :)
Also need a ford edis system, but thats a tenner from a scrappy.

Id just sort the immobiliser tbh though, bike carbs aren't suited to car engines, and poor inlet manifold design restricts what power the engine makes with them on.
Whats the prob with the immobiliser?

the problem with the immobiliser is that its doing its job lol

Swap the ecu/transponder/pickup then, will take SECONDS to swap

I know all this but I cant get the replacement parts to get it running. Its a ****ing nightmare.

get on find a part and I'm sure you'll soon have plenty scrappy's offering you them! Failing that the se loom as burgo said. I assume your loom is complete? I had similar problems but that was down to the loom being hacked out by the scrappy! Hence why my 1.6 16v is sat in the garage, not a car lol

The looms complete, The ECU is there as is the Key chip, just not the Transponder. Opel told me they wont reprogram it all either. Thy can, but as I dont have the donor car ID they wont do it.

VSS is nothing bty..

to be honest i would say my friend would have one at his breakers.... most of their stuff goes through the internet so would be able to sned anywhere and prices are reasonable. if i had a car i would pop down and see what he could do for me.

if you wanna give him a call its Premier Vauxhall Spares (plymouth) jamie or joe u wanna speak to.

he should normaly have a set on the shelf (ecu/chip/transponder)

hope this helps :D

how soon do you actualy need the x14xe ecu/chip/transponder? my friend has a c16xe in his corsa but still with the x14xe ecu. we will be converting it to v6 in a few weeks time. so f your not in a major hurry for it we will have one avalable soon anyway..

Well I have a mate staying in Billing this week, so if it was possible, he'd collect the lot for me if it wasnt too far away like. Failing that, postage is still an option.

Ideally I'd like to have it before the NI/ROI Rolling Road day which isnt that far away iirc, so pretty soon mate.

I fitted R1 carbs to an 8v 1400 Nova over the weekend, runs std sr ign just now , but I've bought Adam's Megajolt to fit later.
Idle's fine, revs up ok, start tuning them today.

No, no WIP on here or anywhere, but a little bit on migweb regarding the progress.

Are you using them as bodies or carbs?gsxr 750 have a 40mm bore and thay can be indervitualy spaced to sute the bores.if you using them as bodies you will need an after market ecu.

Cheers mate, I've been doing a little research into these but since sorted the ECU etc problem, so its a little into the Future, but all the info's helping.
