iv taken my icv off, now how the hell do i clean it, what are the dos and donts

Give it a thorough dowsing with carb cleaner or similar. Give it a wipe over, if its clean then you need to re-lube it with silicone grease spray.

If it's the little stepper motor, make sure you allow it to soak inside the casing, if its the bigger 20xe valve then make sure the 'window' is opened and give it a good spray on the inside.

Yeah, that's the one. You should be able to get a small screwdriver in to open it up enough to spray cleaner and lube in :)
