avo coilovers

my brother has just bought a 2.0 8v corsa and it has avo coilovers on the front and avo adjustable dampers on the rear. Do thes knock or have play in them?? as the mot tester at work said it had play in the top mount but was the same both sides?? anyone shed andy light on it??:confused:

have they been lowered so far down that when you jack it up the spring moves about and theres no load on the bearing?
