just a quick question

Im going to be putting a c16xe and a x16xel engine into two nova soon, just needing some info on the wiring for these engines.

For the c16xe and the x16xel i have two plugs, a 3 wire one which i think is for the air con? wire colours are on both engine looms
Black/green
Black/white
Black/blue

Now on the c16 loom i have a larger plug with 9 wires into it which are

Red- battery live
Black- ignition live
Large black- unknown
Brown/yellow
Brown/white
Blue/red
Red/blue fuel pump?
Green- rev counter
Blue/brown

And now the x16xel

brown/white
brown/yellow
red/blue - fuel pump
blue/red
green- rev counter
blue
brown/blue
black/brown

Anyone help?

The 3wire one(black/green etc etc) isn't needed in a nova.

which is what lol, sorry guys first time doing this conversion have a pop at vehicle speed sensor?

Does the c1x need this plugged in? dont think we used it when i done the conversion into a corsa 1.2

yes it is the vehicle speed sensor. it doesnt need to be connected but you will find yourself stalling alot whilst slowing down

Adam

It really DOES need connecting, its not only annoying stalling whenever you press the clutch down, but its also quite dangerous say if your on a motorway, brake sharply and put the clutch down if someones diving in your lane off a sliproad for example, the engine will die...
Not very cool when cars are doing 80/90 behind you...

ok guys thanks, also on the x16xel i know it has the immobiliser, the ecu has the key taped to it at the moment, is this going to be a ok place for it to sit, so it switches off the immobiliser?

I still have this black.brown on the x16 plug that spare

Adam
03-07-08, 06:36 PM
Yeah, taped to the immobiliser pickup ring is fine

Cheeze
03-07-08, 06:47 PM
Ah now i didnt see that ring you meantion, it just has the key, we were just given bits abobs and asked to fit to the car.

Would any pickup ring work ok?

Adam
03-07-08, 06:48 PM
Nope, has to be the exact one that came on the car.

Its a black plastic box, with a ring around it(where the ignition barrel should fit)

or we have to get a new key, ring and ecu i guess then

burgo

the ring can be programmed to the ecu and key ;)

did i read someplace that the corsa vss is in the corsa dash clocks and not at the gearbox end?

So im going to have to find a gearbox one if thats the case, oh and what gearbox f13 of f15, any better than the other

Adam
05-07-08, 04:51 PM
Both gearboxes pretty similar, use whatever you can find. Yes most corsas have vss in the clocks, but you will need a nova one that can attach a speedo cable if you want to use std nova speedo/clocks.
Off a nova spi

Cheeze

i have both, so its one or the other.

I will have alook see what i can find regarding the vss, cheers

Any chance of a Pic of it Cheeze?

I take it the origional Corsa item is in the dash?

Cheeze
05-07-08, 07:10 PM
Sorry Dod, what would you like a pic of?

burgo
05-07-08, 11:31 PM
cheeze the vss on a nova spi is in the box like the transponders for the digi dashes. you simply put it in your box and reconnect your speedo cable. job done

Hi mate, I'm after a pic of the Nova Speed sensor as described in Burgos post. I dont think I have one.

Would a Digi dash item, paired with a Digi Dash fit the bill?

Adam
06-07-08, 12:02 PM
yes /\

Dod
06-07-08, 02:06 PM
So If I wire in a Digi dash I'm sorted?

burgo
06-07-08, 02:18 PM
no you dont need a digi dash, you just need the transducer?

Cheeze

Kool cheers, i will have to have a hunt for a spi in the local scrappy
