will the front and rear gte/gsi suspension fit as a straight replacement ?
yep straight fit. why may i ask ?
Isn't the GTE/GSi stuff ever so slightly lower than poverty spec? Hence why springs are usually quoted as "not GTE/GSi" or "GTE/GSi only", due to a 1.2 40mm lowering spring only lowers a GTE/GSi 30mm or so over standard...?
yes they are 20mm lower. but is it really worth the work for hardly any difference

The std springs are some of the stiffest you will come accross. The dampers are whack however. Fit some decent ones.

Std handling is OK, but its too high so feels unstable tbh.
I remember just a few days after I got my GSi (9 yrs back now) me & a mate in his K reg SXi which had a GSi 1.6 engine raced some old Mini. I took a long sweeping bend on a fast stretch of A road at 90*, my mates Nova was on my Courtenay clubman suspension with all new bushes & 15" alloys etc vs my std 100k GSi. I was egging him on to go quicker. The Mini whupped us, fook knows what was in it but it overtook both of us at about 120* LOL
*measured units of speed not specified.
