I'm begining to 20SE my Corsa as a budget project, and suspension wise up front I'm gonna use Koni Adjustables. I have Eibach Nova springs but I'm a little worried about the extra weight. I know i can buy proper heavy duty springs but as said, this is on a Major budget so I cant afford to. What about either chopping or heating Uprated Cav or Vectra Springs to fit the struts instead?

Certainly wouldn't cut them. Heating and rewinding may work, but its not something I'd want to DIY...

No no, i got a good lad helping me with it so its not going to be difficult for him. The only thing is that the Vactra and Cav items being as big as they are, when heated and lowered there might not be enough clearence between the coils when fitted and driven.

use TD springs, they are stiffer.

dont head and re-wind, they will break, you would have to temper the whole spring properly or it will crack just after where it was heated.

TD Nova Springs? Would they be strong enough?

yes Dod, i dont know, just a suggestion. they are a LOT stiffer.

what about TD corsa springs?

Surely they'd be the same as Nova springs. I got some Vectra Super Touring Springs from a V6, i'm thinking even if cut a little they should still be alright weightwise. Opinions please?

Don't cut springs.

I'd use corsa or combo TD ones.

I've been in a XE Nova on Eibach springs (with KONIs) & the ride was fine for road use. The springs are very long anyway which goes some length to help with them being firm.

I say it'll be fine. Only one way to find out.....

Well theres no shortage of parts in the garage here so here goes!!

FOr the Track HEads, the Corsa has an internal shifter, so I can run a straight pipe from the manifold as far as the rear beam cant i? Just the back box that has a bend in it?

cutting the springs will actualy make them stiffer/higher poundage. if they were veccy springs or similar if they were cut down it wouldnt be too bad (to try) as long as they locate propely in the spring seats and they do not flap around (have prelaod) its not ideal but it will still be safe if done properly..

Well thats what I was thinking but I wanted to double check with everyone else and get their opinions first off. I'm gonna give it a shot and see.

TD springs are higher poundage as the derv engine weighs a damned sight more than the petrol motors. Bear in mind it has a blower on it too, which weighs a lot.

As for the exhaust, mine had a slight kink up front and that has no mid box. Rasp = fail lol

Well tbh my Project car has 17mths test and probably will be sold on soon after the conversions been done. Its pretty much just to see if I can build a car from parts I have in my garage, well aside from the Mounts. lol
