Hi. I've never sprayed using waterbased paint. I've always used 2pak paint. I know it was phased out this year but registered body shops can still get it. I've asked my mate to get hold of some and he came back with a shocking quote of £72 + vat per litre!!! I can't justify paying that but the only other option is water based. Can anyone on here still get 2pak paint in vauxhall flame red code E547 for reasonable prices?

Ok cheers chaps.i'll give them a ring. Just wondering if they'll supply it to me as I'm not trade?

This post probably should be in styling thinking about it. Nobody will see it then though

i work in a bodyshop. we arent surrpose to use it. however we do 'find' an old tin knocking round from time. any local motor manufactor ie someone that sells paint materials to bodyshops will get it for you.

use the excuse its on a barn on a farm no one round to complain you got mask vents etc.

Ok I'll try that one. Thats the trouble with getting paint now. You have to be from a body shop and order it from the local motor factors. They won't supply it to Joe public because they don't have all the safety equipment needed to use it:roll: .

Got a quote now of £48 a litre including the vat. If you can beat this let me know. I'm about to go and pay this.

Yes you can AND you can get 2 pack that complies with the new industry standards.

Good luck!

Got some now. I didn't realise they were making a "legal" version. Have to look into this. I still maintain that as a fairly novice sprayer I've always got a superb finish with 2 pack. Be a shame to get rid of it completely just modernise it I say.

Looks awesome, I love fresh paint!!!

Will the block be OK? Won't it flake off with the heat?

Never tried it but was under the impression high temp paint is the way to go?

Kev.

The paint should be fine on the block. Obviously it'll get hot but the engine temps hopefully won't reach the point where it'll be hot enough to cause the paint a problem. Could of just used high temp paint or even hammerite but TBH you wouldn't get the finish. Got to try and get the engine in the car now without scratching it all off.
