Is it Needed?

On my 1.4 carb engine, on the carb itself it has a bit of pipe that went to a round thing on the airbox inlet. Do i need it? As i was planning to fit a cone filter.

Is it a samll diameter hose?

If so that is a vacuum hose for the carb. When I fitted the K&N bolt on my 1.2 carb I blocked it off and I felt no difference.

But recently when I had engine troubles, unblocking the hose actually made it idle better. Its all academic really as my HG is gone but it did idle better with it in use.

If you mean the vacum advance for the dizzy its not.
