Hi guys,
I've contacted the company that made the Sport Vynal for Novasport (see sport zone) to get a set of SR vynal made up - essentially the sides, B pillar and the rear section.
Just wondering whether anyone else would be interested?
The quality of the company is fantastic based on the sport stuff produced.
I'll let you know once I get replies costs etc...
for reference the Sport stuff is £150 for a full set - SR vynal is alot simpler so should be cheaper (hopefully!)

no the sr vynal is the lower part of the side of the car (under the bump strip) and the small section that runs along the back below the window (the strip between the corner of the boot surround where the wiper goes0. the GTE/GSi vynal runs on the bottom section of the boot.
Colours wise - I wasnt aware there was 2 colours so not sure - I'm thinking the darker one?!?

I need to send the original vynal off however it's not playing ball so I need to make exact templates...will be doing that over the next week...

Hi im under my fella's name on here only as he doesnt know how to use computer!lol
i can send pics via e-mail as i havent yet posted enough to upload photos on here.
I have done a gsi.....door pillar vinyl in matt black and rear bootlid vinyl with gsi badge optional(many choices on badge so price vaires slightly)
And a "NOVA 2.0 SR VAUXHALL" rear boot decal in matt black.and again door pillar vinyl.
The wording on each decal can be changed for individual taste easily
Prices are beteen £50.00 and £80.00 per set.(which as i said above, a set consists of a set of 2 vinyls for the door pillars and the boot decals)

Can you give us an idea of costs on items individual ie
B pillar set for each side and are they made up of the individual bits like the factory stuff

font isnt bold enough
It's not an actual replica - this is one that was done based on the design but she's already advised me it's not actually a carbon copy. I'll be sending off templates if necessary....

yeah i'd say so too. i personaly would not be bothered if it looked that way anyway. but to be as original as possible is allways nicer...
Update
Spent the last couple of weeks cleaning up the rear graphics for the SR. I looked for ages on font sites trying to find a similar font but in the end decided to do it freehand and clean it up on the computer.
I swear to god when Vauxhall designed the rear graphics they must have done it freehand because NONE of the letters match. All the A's for example are differnt and the 2 L's in Vauxhall are different sizes! they probably used letraset!
Anyway, below is a scaled down version of lettering on the rear panel I've created. The one I'm doing will have the same layout, will have overhands to go under the wrap spoiler as well as under the rear windscreen rubber and hopefully will be pre cut. I'd initially drawn in the hole for the wiper however after looking at the pic above which has its woper on the opposite side Ive decided to elave it out and allow the fitter to cut their own hole.
I'm also working on making a replacement vauxhall logo for the front bonnet in silver although I think one in black would be pretty cool...

Can they do Corsa GT items?
don't see why not if you can supply the template. Most Vynal companies can do whatever you give to them.
I was tempted to set up a Vauxhall Nova SR font so you could create anything but I only had the above letters (plus the corsa ones) so the rest wouldnt look as good/right...
Here's a bit moe of the vynal I've templated...
The B pillar (tested the template out on some fablon sticky back plastic and its spot on). Comes in 4 sections inc the door edge...

Took me most of the day to get the curves right using adobe illustrator and photoshop.
All I need to do now is the front wing bottom and the door. For the sill and rear 1/4 its easier to get just one long length and cut to fit.

small update...
Roseannes made up one of the B pillars using my vecotred art work in black matt vinyl and is posting it to me for checking. Shes also managed to track down a supplier that can get the 3M coloured vinyl as used by vauxhall so hopefuly we can get as close a match as possible...
I'll post pics once I get the mock up for reference...

nice good work matey ive got a gm bootlid vinyl aswell now well i will have but im going to use the one from this kit and save that one!!! but yea good work mate your a star its going to be a massive help to my project getting this saves me having to pull mine off lol and i get a bonnet badge ive been trying to get a white bonnet with it on so its a great help matey!!

How much for both bottom side vinyl lengths and 1400sr boot?
I'd be very interested in the B pillar vinyl for my GSi, having no luck at all getting anything even close to the original!!
still waiting on confirmed prices but for BOTH B pillar sets (thats 4 sections per side) is about £30 - £15 a side.
Bear in mind that Vauxhall USED to charge £17 a section = £68 a side! And thats just the B Pillars!
But you cant get these any more!
I'll post a full price list once she comes back to me...
ok - I've received a test section of one of the B pillars and a bottom corner of the front wing in Matt Black and it looks fantastic.
I'll be test fitting these at the weekend and will post pics for reference.
Unfortunately 3M no longer make the exact vynil shade used on the Nova so I'll only be able to make up as close a match as I can get to the mk1 grey which based on the charts I've been sent is a cool shade of anthracite!
I'll post a new thread this weekend with prices for the matt black vynil sets but it will be considerably cheaper than Vauxhall WHEN they used to make vynil for the Nova.
The price for the anthracite vynal might be a bit more because the cost of the vynil is slightly more - I'll post prices once I confirm the shade.
Obviously the price for club members will be better than for those who are not so if youre not a member - You'd better join! You'll certainly get your tenner back if you buy a set that's for sure!

Heres some pics of a test fitted section of the Matt Black vynil on my project. Please note that I didnt remove the rear 1/4 window or front door edge surround so I wasnt able to wrap the sections over perfectly for these areas (you can see then sticking out on some pics) however they do fit 100% and look really smart! because these are identical copies of the original vynil you will need to dismantle the car slightly to get a perfect fit. Or you can trim it down (which would be a shame really but it's up to you).

I didnt use a hairdryer to soften the edge section on the B pillar inside the door jamb so there were a couple of creases but by warming with a dryer 1st it becomes much more maliable and forms perfectly.
So there you have it. I also have a test section for a bottom corner wing but didnt get chance to fit that this evening.
I've also had delivery costs confirmed so will post a separate thread later for orders of the Matt Black Vynil initially - then once I complete the colours for the "genuine grey colour" I'll post a price list for that as well.

blue grey for me, any close ups of the texture
the matt black is smooth but matt/satin finish. As mentioned before 3M dont make the grey vynil any more so geting a repetition of the slight mottled effect isnt going to be possible. However I'm trying to get as close a match to "grey" as I can - there wont be an option for Grey or Blue Grey I'm afraid as these specific shades arent made any more (and I have no tblue grey for reference!) however you can order different colours including I believe a carbon fibre option - which would be very cool. Obviously prices will vary.
I'm ging with an anthracite colour whichj is as close to the mk1 grey as I can get based on a 20 yr fade and a vynil that has the longest "life" as possible - most car vynil nowadays doesnt last any more than 5-10 yrs depending on what you get - unless you pay "mental prices" in which case you into Vauxhall original territory (£350+ for a full set - if it was still available). the one Ive chosen is in satin finish which is as close as I can get for the car vynil of offer. Prices are exremely good considering you cant get "exact" colours any more.
The closest comproimise I'm afraid.

The problem with putting up a sample pic of the grey I'm choosing is it doesnt look the same on a pc! I tried to scan it but the sample in the book is so small (10mmx4mm) it just comes out black!
The samples I was sent look nice and dark in the book but based on the test samples I got theyre about 3 shades too light so I'm going for one that "looks" much darker.
The vynil is specifically made for cars and marine graphics. Hopefully I can get a cample before theyre made up and I'll post a pic then.

Ade im sure your sr is blue/grey, it was early sr snowplough style front that was grey.
aye - I took some pics earlier of the rear 1/4 and it defo looked blueish.
prices wise hopefully next week. The price for the Grey is based on whatever vinyl I select as each make is a different price.
Any more news on these, will need some for my GSi very soon so I can get the windows back in!!!

Spoke to my vynil company again today and theyve got samples of the grey. Theyve had a real issue getting matt grey. Apparantly you just cant get it in the right shade!
Sending me samples through so will post details when received.

The boot vinyl is a genuine Vauxhall one, and the B pillars are a good bit darker "in the flesh", but I'm still happy with them!:thumb:

Right sort of hit a snag.
Both myself and the vynil company I'm using cannot find a match to the Nova SR "blue Grey" or any similar shade of grey in matt/satin.
We can get a perfect match in gloss but that'd look crap.
SO - is there anyone out there that can advise?
For reference you can get the vynil printed but it'll be in gloss and will look obvious (half tone dots will be visible) - also it'll fade after 3 yrs apparantly.
I'm getting some grey sent through but I think it'll be too light.
And 3M couldnt help either - they stopped making the stuff 12 yrs ago.

Surely it cant be that hard, the guy I went (who no longer makes up vinyls) gave me a colour swatch to look through, I picked out the closest grey to my sr vinyl I could find and he made it up!

A small update - I got some more swatches through from Roseanne and theres a possible match (called Nimbus Grey) however its still a fraction lighter than I'd like. Its a gloss swatch I've got so I'm hoping that the matt version will be darker (no light refraction). In all the samples I;ve looked at theres no textured finish though.
Even had one of the guys on her (Euro SBD) who works for a graphics company have a look at his vynil books and he couldnt find any either!
Steve - you got the details of the guy that made that up for you?
I'll try and give him a ring about it, although I think he ignored me last time I rang him due to £10 that I never payed him, the vinyls weren't 100% after the 2nd time I took them back to him so I forgot to pay him lol

What font is the NOVA 1.4 SR badge on the boot lid of Nova SRs?
I have a Corsa B in which I fitted a SR engine and I want to use the exact font to have CORSA 1.4 SR to put on my boot lid...

could we get some custom base material made up to our specification and then use that for getting the kits made up? If we now have all the dimensions etc thanks to Ade then this could be an option and we get an exact match... may be worth a shot.
