Have a pair on my car. Took me absolutely ages to do but they look perfect on the car.

Have these been going for sale anywhere and if so, how much?

Nope :p

Plus standard Nova mirrors are worse than useless, so making them smaller is going to make them... 2x worse than useless lol

ive done alot of plastic welding before so cant see it being too hard tbh, just takin time cutting it right, and lining it all up before platic welding.. we'll see anyhow..

what do u need mirrors for anyway lol, i know there not great and would be crap even smaller but hey they look a bit better i think. sure other ppl agree aswell :D

Its the angle differences on the mirrors, trying to get them to line up, and its a nightmare filling and sanding them, then filling and sanding them, then filling and sanding them over and over and over.....

Look finished to me.
Bring em to TOTB in few weeks then, that will give you time to 'finish off.'

Look at those pictures with the 'Fearless logo'. Not seen that for a while.
Is that taken from stonehenge?

Your Nova if ever finished will be as old as stonehenge!!!!!!

I have been looking into getting some of the shortened mirrors made (after being let down by 3 people on PNG who said they could make them for me!).

A friend and I spent most of Saturday cutting up mirrors, and now we know what we're doing, making the shortened housing is relatively easy. Likewsie the glass itself isn't too tricky.

However, the mirror cover (the colour coded 'cap') is an absolute nightmare, and will take many, many hours of labour to get it to a point where it can be painted.

In my view the only sensible way to do it will be to take a pair of moulds from the finished covers, and then have them produced in fibreglass, or even better injection moulded in plastic.

The costs of making moulds is high, so unless a lot of people were wanting to buy a set, I doubt the costs could be justified. And even then they're certainly not going to be cheap to do.

BTW - Dave, the carbon mirrors look great. I will e-mail you separately.

An absolute Dog to do, all the angles are odd and none line up. Eugh!?!?!

A wee suggestion mate. Cut the mirrors towards the middle more as the difference in depth of the Black Rim part is less and can be sanded out, if you understand me....

I'll take two sets at whatever the cost, Who do I make the cheque out to....

Thanks, that will be worth trying.

We did this prototype as a direct copy of one of the mirrrors that I have on my rally car, which someone else shortened.

As you say, there is a noticeable 'step' in the black rim, which obviously needs sorting out. My short mirrors had this done by filling and sanding over the entire black rim. A lot of work.

A Lot.

I've been trying to figure how to do the lines and the only thing I can come up with it to remove all of this
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/Dods1/untitled-5.jpg
and replace it with some dowel from a) and b) to c), fill it in and sand it down. But even then it'll look too flat. It could be stepped with a plastic cut out and smoothed out afterwards btu either way its going to be a nightmare to do.

I'd be interested in a set as well but a lot of people would need to be interested as costs would be really high

Good condition mirrors are probably the last thing you want if you are attempting this job for the first time!

You need some duff sets to practice on.

What pictures do you need exactly? I have loads of sets of mirrors I can supply photos of, and loads of mirrors I can sell to anyone who wants to have a go at DIY.

If you can post up pictures of the various angles of the Mirrors, with the cap on and off.

Top, bottom, front back and side. Same from the cap.
