View Full Version : oil cooler pics?
just wanna see where people have mounted there oil coolers especially on the c20let as was fitting mine today and cos of the intercooler and raidiator theres not alot of room for it to fit at the front so i was gonna stick mine under the front crossmember but wanted to see where over people have stuck theres just to give me a better idea i have took a couple of pics
there not the best ones tho lol
this one is under the crossmember

Thats a fooking massive oil cooler!!!!! A smaller one might be more sensible/easier to locate
i got a 16 row one is better for the power im going for the 13 row ones are only good for 200 brake or so
lol oooooooooooookkkkkkk
If you had a badly designed 45bhp 1.0 engine you could need a 60 row cooler, or a well designed 600bhp engine that dosent need a cooler at all....
Personally I'd run it without a cooler but a temp probe in the sump and see how hot it gets. If it gets above 110deg in the sump then yeah fit a cooler with a stat and worry about where to locate it.
Remember that an oil cooler only works when its got air flowing through it. So sticking it up under the cross member will be useless. It's better to fit a smaller cooler in good air flow than a massive one out of the air flow.
I've fitted mine along side the rad. However I don't have an intercooler to worry about. I guess positioning will depend on how big the intercooler is and how it's mounted.
I would aim for something along these lines, but in a Nova.
