I know that the 1400 SR inlet manifold fits the 1.4 SPi enigne perfectly, so I'm assuming the same applys with the 1600 SPi engine? Can someone confirm this for me?

Also, This lot is for a mates 1000cc Nova, something to keep him going. What Coil/Dizzy set up should I use?

dod are you sure the 1.4 SPi ports ar the same as the SR? the SPi head we had had tiny square ports and looked very rubbish at flowing gas. if its just to get it going then it will run...it just wont match and flow very well at all. as half the port will be over lapping. but the flanges should seal.

you can swap the drive pins on the dizzy to use a 1.2 distributor and coil on the 1.6 (if i remember right) i remember we used the 1.6 distributor on the 1.2 by grinding a pin off the drivekey to make it locate in the 1.2 cam. and im sure i remember thinking it would work the other way round too.

i hope iam helping and not hindering you in your quest to help your friends 1l nova

No, you're helping a lot. The 1.4 SPi Head had also got the square ports as did the 14SR head and inlet. The Astra SPi engine is essentially a Nova 14SR engine with an injector fitted. I'm assuming the 1.6 is the same set up, as I've come across a 1.6 MPi set up and a 1.6 Carb and inlet. Maybe my best option is to get a 1.6 Card head and put it on the SPi bottom end.

/\ Thats what I'd do.

Just got a phone call from my local recycling plant, they got a 1600 Carb'd Cav in so thats my coil and dizzy sorted as well.

Is there something else that needs done to make the 1000cc run a 1600 Dizzy/Coil set up? A live feed to somewhere? I know there is but cant remember where from and where to.

it just needs a live feet to the coil (if its the same as the 1.2 nova carb) i cant remember what one it is though, one is for the tacho, 2 for the trigger and one for the live.
iam glad your SR inlet matches your SPi ports :)

the black wire near the coil setup will have an inline resisitor in there... you ideally want to run a new wire from the fusebox to the coil.

Ok, might sound silly, but where near the coil? Does it plug into the Coil? And where from the fusebox? Just tap into any other Black wire?

Yes.
Just need to wire the black(ign 12v), brown(earth), and green(rev)
If its the same setup to a 1.4sr.

And aye 1.4sr/1.4spi heads are identical

Ok, but where do I run the Black wire from the fusebox to? Stuart said near the coil, but where exactly doe it go?

To an ignition live.

Ok, this sounds really stupid and pretty bad, but wheres the ignition live? Its on the coil isnt it?

the one on the 1.0 coil is a resistor wire..... it "might" work, it probably wont though. Try it. If it dosent work then run a wire to where that one goes from any other black wire.
