View Full Version : another sport bites the dust
my brother and i did a trackday at lydden hill on saturday and after a little tuition he went back out pushing hard ,going into this bend it lifted the rear wheel and just kept going pics are on the link i hope it works im not too good with this type of thing i cant decide wether to re shell or just break it opinions pleasehttp://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?t=132021 if the link doesnt work could some clever person explain how or insert link
Thanks Jezz:thumb:
FOOOK me, thats quite an impact.
"as usual the car cocked its rear leg but this time it just kept lifting"
Sounds familiar
The cage definently stopped that being a lot worse.
Glad the drivers ok.
Shame, that looked a nice car! glad your brother is ok though, thats the main thing. At least the car died doing what is was intended for!.
not to sure wether to re shell or not i will have to check the cage to see if its damaged i think the os coilover is probably bent as the hub is broken not sure on the wheels i will have to have them checked to see if they are still straight, hopefully the rack will be ok ,the trouble is i am building a mk2 escort aswell so i am going to struggle to find the time but i did love driving it

Crikey!
Such a shame.
Why couldn't it have been a 4 door nova lol.
Glad he is ok though.
:(
Not good but I am glad your bro is ok. Looked a really big one.
I posted on TS but are you running ACB10's?
from the pics it looks like one hell of an adverse camber at that corner!
Reshell it!
Hope your Brother is okay...
Christ! Held up better than I expected tho :)
I did/do like this on tho, probably as I have the same skirts tho lol
*cough* Re-shell time *cough*
my bro is fine it was a bit worrying for a time he is allready on the lookout for a shell but i still havent finished my escort i have been building it for 7 years thats why i bought the nova to get some track action so not sure i can be ****d to re shell it ,dar ,yes they are very second hand acb10s that we have been having tyre tuck with really needed to go dow on the width a bit
on a brighter note for those that are interested this is the link to the build thread of my mk 2 escort, allthough i am not sure i am going to track this now after the nova http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?t=95758
Noooo poor lil thing :-( shame but good job you guys had decent cage setup in there otherwise it might not have been cuts and bruises, please reshell her in another c reg shell if possible!
Reshell it with the Sport ID :thumb:
NOOOOOOOOO i fell in love with this car at Llandow. Really sorry mate, thats a kick in the nuts, but as said, thank god he's ok.
The tailgate made a good bid for freedom didn't it!!!!
your not wrong there lee the perspex did too,i think with a bit of super glue and filler it should be oklol
wow, looked like i real minter, i think you should reshell, its a genuine sport, im sure even in that state its worth some money.

oh well, better to see it die doing what it was designed to do, rather than being violated with XE's and understeering off a wet round about and into a lamp post.
im sure those men will have the sport looking well again, the cage has done a lot of protection and the bumper looks like it will live to fight another day.
Reshell it with the Sport ID :thumb:
just a little bit illegal lol

Jeez! I just checked the link & the pics....
That looked quite nasty, looked like the car carried a lot of its momentum in the air. I hope you/bro reshells her & keeps the Sport ID & get it out on track again doing what it does best.

If intending to sell/mislead for profit....
reshell with sport ID, glad hes ok!
Cheers for all the comments ,i would strongly advise anyone doing trackdays gets a cage and harness,s as a minimum,i am gutted about the car but it was never going to be a mint one as it was used on track,i will have to see what is worth saving before i decide to reshell or break ,if i do reshell it will be back with a bit more power, see if my brother can jump the tyres next timelol
reshell with sport ID, glad hes ok!
+1 Glad everyone involved is OK!
took quite a beating, a real shame, least it went out the way it was supposed to be used, glad your brothers ok and definetly reshell it
gotta be be reshelled, or at least keep the sport ID untill after youve built your escort - be a crying shame to scrap a sport
gutted for your bro mate. atleast the old girl went out in style! did i see that on e-bay a while ago?
ste
it was on ebay about a year ago ,after discussing it with a few people i think we are going to re shell it Gary at retro motorsport thinks the cage should be ok ,he also has a suspiscion that it may have been suspension failure from the body damage but i wont be sure untill i get it home and start to strip it down and inspect the parts ,if any one knows of a mint shell pm me cheers

I'm sorry, I've only just seen this thraed, absolutely gutted for you!
I recognise the car, I've got loads of pics from it at PV2008 going up the strip, I remember the vinyls on the doors.
This is an awesome capture pic of the tailgate and the polycarb!
