i finally got my oil cooler kit so i thought i would go down the garage today and fit it all up and as i took my old one off i realized the bolt is different to my new one and was wondering do you have to buy an adapter to make it fit to the block

I could be very wrong, but the bolt looks like it is in the wrong way round, & the hexagon should actually be on the outside of the sandwich plate..

BUT surely there is one in the kit????? maybe you should ring them tomorrow morning..

i thought that was just to extend the shaft thread. will it just screw on?

tony k

nah its too short plus if it did screw on how would the filter fit?

iv fit 1 onto a honda engine before and a part screwed onto the existing threads then the oil filter screwed onto that. but that might be a different type. sorry that i was no help bud.

thats ok mate there must be something that screws into the block and then this new bolt screws onto that to hold the sandwich plate on

Its difficult to see from the pictures, but do you not remove the current bar from the pump assembly, then screw on the new adaptor, and then you use your original one to hold the sandwich plate onto it?

i thought it was a direct fit but other than that i dont know

Lee

That would be a direct fit. The adaptor insert looks like it just gives the extra clearence for the plate?

i thought that it just all bolted together then done im going down there tomorrow to have another go i wouldnt of thought i would have to take the pump apart to do that tho i hope not

basically - you need the oil filter screw for a non oil cooler model..

you screw that in the oil pump, then fit oil cooler, and the bit you got with new oil cooler should screw on the vaux one, then filter will screw on the threaded end of the new one...

part number for screw from vaux : GM 90144360

i was thinking aswell how about if i chopped the old bolt down to the wright size then screw it into my new one with some locktite do you reckon that would work im still gonna get thta other bit from vauxhall tho

Ste L

wouldn't work, as the other one's fully threaded top to bottom..

and it need to be thread, so if you cut the one you got down there will be no threadede section for the new part to screw onto
