hi mate and welcome
depending on your age, i would fit a k and n bolt on filter, exhaust. Fit a lowered suspension kit and maybe a set of standard gte/gsi wheels. This all depends on your insurance (make sure you tell them). If your a wee bit older go for a 1600 gte/gsi engine, change the fuel tank etc for a bit of fun. All in all, if your handy with a spanner this shouldnt cost you that much. lets know what you do.

what ever sort of styling suits you , mk 1 sr , or GTE style first thing id do if i had a mk 1 would be fit clear front indicators , possibly lower dont go all max power nody kit style as subtle mods seem to be the way to go now . Nath

I Know I Can Get A Gsi Engine For Around £100/150 But Can I Get a 1.6 16 v Engine For That Price Theat Will Fit Straight In?
You could get a 16 16v for that money but its a very difficult task to wire if your car is Carb'd. You're best off looking for a 1.3 or 1.4 SR Carb'd engine, all is a straight swap then.

ok scrap that idea but i realy do want a gsi or a gte engine will this fit strate in?
Yes but theres also a lot of wiring needed to make it run. But everything else is bolt in. No welding or anything unless its to strengthen your car, but not necessarly needed.

Do a thread search in the TECHNICAL MECHANIC forum, as opposed to the Projects forum. Its been done loads of times.
