    Default Nova > Cavvy TD

Right, the Nova is costing mega money and will increase as the time goes on, and being at Uni etc I'm starting to do some more miles than I expected.

Anyone rekon a Cavalier 1.7TD will be any substantial amount more than my 1.2 Nova to insure?

(Will be returning to Novas in future, just cant afford to do everything I'd like to with the Nova I have so got to be sensible and get something a bit more economical, as the 1.2 isnt great on the long fast roads I use most of time)

I'm with endsleigh, would rather not change companies.

18 YO, 1 years NCB, Group A area....what does everyone rekon?

    Cheers

Might struggle due to the Cavalier having a Turbo...Even though it's a Dougie Diesel

1.9tD pugrot 306 or a 1.5td corsa are both group 5 insurance. I went with a pugrot 306 as people demand more money for a 1.5td corsa despite it being an older less well equipped car.

What is costing too much? Insurance, fuel, maintianence?

A 1.2 Nova is pretty cheap to run service wise, less to go wrong, good economy easily do 40mpg. Insurance may be a bit more but not by much I'd have thought.

as he mentions, the long quick roads are the problem, nothing is very economical in top gear flat out at 3.5k-4.5k with the loud pedal all the way down.

Change the gearbox to a 5speed one and reduce the noise I personally had no issues with picking up speed on bigger roads as the 4 speed box was pretty good for that, yes it's gonna be a bit louder but it's fine imo. I've had 47mpg on a motorway run

Well the rot's starting to become a problem to be honest and I can afford to keep up with it like the rest of you guys

I'll fix some of it before selling as it deserves it but I also want something where it uses less fuel on the long fast roads, and something a bit more comfortable (i'm 6 foot 3) and its not exactly the most comfortable thing in the world.

Nova_Tek I already have the 5 speed box.

Always wanted a booted cav with a GSi kit anyway, so its a lot of a choice matter, will be returning to Novas when I leave Uni though, got the bug just havent got the cash.
