Smile Nova detail and paint correction

I recently purchased some new detailing equipment and was keen to give it a try, so with the weather improving and a show at Goodwood looming, I thought it was time for a little TLC on the nova. Here’s the kit I got my lucky mitts on.

As this was in prep for an important show, I chose to double the recommended amount of T ‘Wash n Wax’ to give the car a really deep shine.

It produced large amounts of delicious foam.

    Foam

    Mmmmmm foam.

Now to get the Nova out of it’s hole.

Here are some of the problem areas!

Here’s the amount of dirt on the sponge after just one panel!

    Wheels.

    50-50 of the bonnet.

After washing it was time to rinse. The open nozzle was used for the majority of the car.

Detailed areas got the flower attachment.

Next up it was time to dry the car. I used a ‘genuine’ leather chamois for this, however due to the time critical nature of this operation, no pictures were taken during the drying. Here is an after shot.

Now the car was clean(er) and dry, it was clear that there was some paintwork correction needed.

I broke out the paint correction gauge.

This was one of the worst affected areas

I chose to use the wider ‘Permanent marker’ for this correction.

After just one application the appearance was much improved.

    After 2 applications.

And finally after 3 applications, very pleased with the final result.
